its clearly about bush. im suresome of this could be applied to katrina but i think most of it is specific to iraq. the first two lines seem to refer to the loss of life/innocence in iraq with the image of a baby dying ("under the desert sun"). did you believe the lie they told you, that christ would lead the way and in a matter of days hand us victory? these lyrics definitely describe bush's attitude going into iraq and how his religous radicalism aided his decision. atta' boy get em with your gun till mr. mega ton tells us when we've won or what we're gonna leave undone. here they adress how at this point even if we leave iraq we're just going to be leaving a country we've torn to pieces and ignited civil war upon. im sure i've offended people with my interpretation. its just what i think. |

i just discovered mewithout you and this band is amazing. the lyrics are fantastic. and the funny thing is im an aetheist and all but i still really enjoy yhe lyrics. and the songs are just so good. "You watch me like a ten car highway wreck with detatched, vulgar curiosity." maybe its just my cynism (spelling?) but i think this refers to god not concerning himself with the woes of man |

i still dont get the part about the spanish boy playing the piano and how it ties into the theme of the song.... gorgeous lyrics nontheless "but now we must pick up every piece of the life we used to love." very dispairing. |

| yay once again. ahh sufjan, who would ever forget you? but i really like the lines "who will save it? dedicate it? who will praise it? commemerate it for you?" the eternal paranoia of what people are going to say about you after your dead. maybe its not supposed to be but i think its pretty humerous actually. i get most of the other refrencesto stuff thats died, but why is he spelling birds in the middle of it? confusion. | |
