| The Dodos – Jodi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| drunk affair, man takes more than he gives and gets tired of her whether he wants to or not. | |
| Moving Mountains – 8105 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| if you think god is a girl, then yea. great tunes, but it's christian rock at the core. it's just not lame like switchfoot. | |
| The Apples in Stereo – Same Old Drag Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this is my favorite Apples song period. | |
| Red House Painters – San Geronimo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| San Geronimo is a southern California town/city, as is Ocean Beach. | |
| The Dismemberment Plan – Girl O'Clock Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"And ya don’t know how these urges, all these urges, can be so very very misread " kind of ambiguous still, but i travis definitely knew what he was doing with this and the cop line. it leans both ways. |

| Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Here's the proof (from a semi-local ezine): Oberst, by the way, didn't have a brother who drowned. "A lot of the stuff I write is sort of other people's stories or things that might not necessarily happen to me but float around in the back of my head," he said. "It tends to be the sad songs that come out most often. I try to write different moods, but the hardest songs to write are of complete joy, because I don't get to that point very often. Songs that relate an experience – not complete devastation or joy, but real feelings – I think are the best." http://www.timmcmahan.com/brighteyes.htm |

| Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I've lived here in Nebraska as long as Conor's been alive, and you're insane if you believe that's true. Conor has often stated (I hate Bright Eyes and it seems I know something you don't) that he feels his personal life is too boring to talk and sing about so he often makes up his history and actions to seem more interesting. During his childhood he was just a prep school kid who felt like he didn't fit in, and often truly didn't, until he made it in the music business. | |
| The Decemberists – Sons and Daughters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I felt like it was 'here' because it's all about the perks of this new place they've arrived at. although since most of the song besides the part about making the cold harbor home are speaking as if they haven't gotten there yet, I could see how the ending is like the characters shoving off towards the new location and thus hearing the bombs fade away. | |
| Portugal. The Man – How The Leopard Got Its Spots Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I first heard this album at the very start of the year (one of my first grabs in January), my first thought was "hey, At the Drive-In reformed after all the members learned from their experiences." Needless to say, I was pleased by it, even if over time I've really just gotten more of that "mars volta without the pretention" vibe. |

| The Wrens – I've Made Enough Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The meaning of the title is just that the dude doesn't feel like being friends with this gal, he just wants to stick in this lustful, crazy moment forever and have a kickass sex toy. | |
| Thom Yorke – Black Swan Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| also, this is the most obviously anti-Bush song, although it can also look like a love song from certain angles. | |
| Thom Yorke – Black Swan Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "and laid down in the bed you made" i think. he just spits "bed" out so furiously it sort of sounds like bit or bitch. | |
| Thom Yorke – The Eraser Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
first ??? = "my fairy tale arrow it says" or something, i lose it after the word arrow, but it sounds like that. i think after the encouragement line, it's "and it's due in the end", like he eventually will have to. "you're like a kitten with a ball of yarn" or "in a ball of yarn" or something similar. again, i think it's "due in the end" |
|
| Thom Yorke – Cymbal Rush Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
try to save ??? try to build a wall that is high enough it's all boiling over, all boiling over try to save your house try to save your songs try to run but they followed you on the hill it's all boiling over, all boiling over your little your little oh no more conversation no more conversation she'll turn away ??? she'll turn away ??? all the rooms were numbered in a loser's tent away (??? probably not) she'll turn away she'll turn away ??? ??? ??? (the end is so low in the mix like a shoegaze song, but the words are so stretched too it's even harder to decipher) |

| Thom Yorke – Harrowdown Hill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
there's a mumbled part right before the final four lines, and i think it goes: "there was me open to the back up of harrowdown hill" or "back open" or something along those lines. anyone with a better view of it? |

| Thom Yorke – Atoms For Peace Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The first set of ??? is "The wriggling, twiggling worm beside devours from the inside out" or "wiggly twiggly" and to me, it sounds like "so many allies, so many allies" but I could be wrong "i want to eat your artichoke heart" it's just "And no false starts" not "and no more" |
|
| Owen Pallett – This Lamb Sells Condos Lyrics | 19 years ago |
