| Metallica – Astronomy (Blue Öyster Cult cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Rebbal Ace is correct in that this is a segment in a story, actually, Sandy Pearlman's Soft Doctrines of Imaginos. You can read more about it here http://members.aol.com/bocfaqman/boc_faq.html (look at section 4.f) Basically, the character Imaginos came here from another planet. In this segment of the story, he realizes he came from the stars. I'll add to this that I am both an avid Tallica fan as well as a BOC die hard. I like both versions and feel they are each equally good in their own right. The darker metallica version would not fit into the story the same way the BOC version does, but fits perfectly in their repertoire. Also, I take exception to the reference someone made to the lack of guitar playing of BOC. He should read Metallica'a own liners notes from the Garage Inc. album about Buck Dharma. There is no question that BOC was an influence on Metallica and they may not have written some of the songs that had, without this influence. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Subhuman Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| About the alien Imaginos being left to die on the shore. The Blue Oyster Cult (aliens) come to save him. See the remade/reworked song "Blue Oyster Cult" on the Imaginos album. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – I'm On The Lamb But I Ain't No Sheep Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| See "The Red and the Black". This was the first release a slower more countryish tune. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Veteran Of The Psychic Wars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this is about a relationship (probably a marriage) going bad over time and it has finally come to a head. The other party in the relationship has been using psychological warfare to drive the other crazy. Finally, it's time they had a break from each other. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Dominance And Submission Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| According to Sandy Pearlman, this song is in reference to losing innocence around the time of the Beatles invasion of American music. Rock and Roll being a corrupter of our youth. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| You're pretty much spot on. Much of BOCs work is sarcastic and in reference to corruption of the earth by various forces brought here by aliens. At least much of there early work up to and through Imaginos. For another "Rock n Roll is corruption" song listen to "Dominance and Submission". | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Transmaniacon MC Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is about the killings backstage by the Hell's Angels at the Stones concert in Altamont in the 60s. Ficticious in that it is supposed to be about a subculture within the Hell's Angels that are trying to influence the world by commiting acts of evil. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Joan Crawford Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song was written by Albert Bouchard and someone else not in BOC (I forget who) during a difficult time in one of AL's marriages. The guys were up all night working on another song and Al's wife came in and read them the riot act. The guy working with Al said something to the extent of "Joan Crawford has risen from the grave" in reference to Al's wife. The basis for the song anyway. What it means to me is that the biatch lives. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – OD'd On Life Itself Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| According to Eric Bloom, this song was inspired by a girl who had "O.D.'d on life". | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Mistress of the Salmon Salt (Quicklime Girl) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
In the last verse the last four lines should be five and are; It comes as if by schedule A harvester lifts his arms to the rain The toes that crawl, The knees that jerk The necks like swans that seem to turn As if inclined to gasp or pray |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Before the Kiss, a Redcap Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is about a real place 'Conry's Bar' where BOC played as the house band and Sandy Pearlman (lyricist for some BOC songs) witnessed a few unusual events. One of them being the exchange of a "redcap" barbituate between two people via a kiss. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – Redeemed (Sir Rastus Bear) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I forget who penned the lyrics, but this song is about his dog 'Sir Rastus Bear'. | |
| Blue Öyster Cult – What Is Quicksand Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This was a previously unreleased song that was added to the digitally remastered first album. I'm not sure about two of the lines and I haven't been able to find the lyrics anywhere else. The two lines in question are; 'I've lived to show you' and 'Sig Reap with a cigar band' If anyone knows for sure what is said, please add your comments. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Burnin' For You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The line "I've seen signs of what (freezing their eyes) went through" in the lyrics above should be, "I’ve seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through". My take is that this song, like "In Thee" about being on the road all the time. BOC is known as being on tour forever. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – Dominance And Submission Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Actually, the B.O.C. website has "Each night the covers were unfolded" which is what it sounds like to me. The lyrics you received may have been written by a record exec. From the BOC FAQ The song, "Dominance And Submission" is the true story of an automobile ride taken with Suzy and her brother ("Charles the grinning boy"), in which some unexpected sexual actions were suggested. |
