I agree he seems insecure, but I think Berninger is pointing out how relationships are sometimes treated as "what's the best I can do?" Of course relationships should hold an intrinsic value moreso than a practical value. He's mocking the selfishness people exhibit when ditching friends or lovers that the deem no longer up to their standards. |

I think he's talking about capitalism and the underlying controls it places on people. With chorus having the basic meaning of: I try to keep materialism, finances and money out of my life as much as possible. But, you have to engage in the system to a certain extent, otherwise you'll lose everything, so I just sing about it. |

To construe Yorke as a Christian is just so terribly misguided, it's hard to know where to start. There is no way in hell Yorke is actually hoping Jesus is coming back to save the world. He might be writing about how people attach themselves to blind hope to get through life, and in that way be talking about Jesus. Otherwise, no. Come on guys, this is Radiohead, songs exclusively about religion are saved for first level thinkers like Reznor, Bono and the guy from Toolio. Radiohead is for people who get the bigger picture.

This song sort of grows inside you. The beginning 3 minute instrumental has made me cry. When I first listened to it, I thought it just sort of meanders and doesn't go anywhere, but the beauty is in the short rises and falls, the small build and it's extreme intensity that seeps into every wandering note. |

| Radiohead – 4 Minute Warning Lyrics

It is a song literally about bombing but it is a metaphor for how one faces death. Not just immediate death but the idea that you will die sooner or later. It's comparing the terror of the four minutes of warning that comes with a bombing and a lifetime of terror from the realization that you will die. |

This song is surrealistic song about love (aka Freudian pyschology). The first verse is him realizing that he can't possibly connect with another person and embody the people we love. Freud talked extensively about never being able to fully get what you desire out of relationships because what we really want is the love of our mothers. The second verse is about wanting to have sex with your mom (I know, gross) but knowing that if you did you would go crazy. Freud spoke of how at a early age you suppress your want to have sex with your mother and put it away in your unconscious. Freud said if you ever tried to have sex with your mother you'd go crazy. So this is Yorke desiring sex with his mother in a dream but not going through with it because the sea (the unconscious) would electrocute (destroy their sanity) us all.
There is a surrealistic writing by Bataille called [Dream] and this song is called (nice dream). The enclosure of nice dream with parentheses is an obvious ode to the [Dream]. That's what I think it's about. Creepy I know. |

I think it's about Jesus.
Pretty straight forward meaning. A guy has a girl he wants, he's jealous and hates the feeling. |

He's being sarcastic. Talking about the drug/rock n' roll culture. I wanna be famous and fucked up like Jim Morrison. Trying to fill that void with the guitar or whatever. Good lyrics for the most part. |

It's about materialism for me. Don't get stuck on a dream means don't dream of prosperity, because it never happens. It all goes away in the end. |

First time hearing it blew me away, Radiohead could be the Beatles if they wanted to. Wow, that may have been the greatest first listening I have ever had. Deeply moving moment. |

The last line is sarcasm, Yorke is mocking christianity. He is saying that the way some christians judge, which leads to people have unrealistic expectations of themselves. The person being portrayed as someone wracked with guilt over defying "god" and not keeping on the "straight and narrow". |

This song is mocking the peddling of the "American Dream" in today's society. That all anyone has to do is try hard and they'll succeed and live a happy, rich, successful, social life. When in fact corporations crush people and only they succeed in the end ie Dinosaurs roam the earth. Refering to them as Dinosaurs might be Thom's way of saying that they will not last and will eventually be destroyed like all repressors. |
