Also, he has a song called Cyanide Breath Mint, and that was the name of his publishing company on Odelay. I read that the song is supposed to be a reflection on the music industry - so maybe that ties in somewhere. Either this song's somehow about the music industry, or a girl he knows in it. |

I always wondered what he was saying when he said "come December Lydia left." I didn't think "condescending linear left" made much sense...
I have to say, though, the solo overpowers the lyrics. I didn't give them much thought the first 20 times I listened to it. |

I'm not sure if I agree, but that's understandable. Hendrix was better in many ways, but Mayer and Vaughan have definitely built on and perfected other aspects. In this case I think I prefer Jimi, but overall I enjoy Mayer and Vaughan more. |

This is one of my favorite songs. The TV video on their website is ridiculous. The noise breakdown is one of the best guitar pieces in history. Well, it's my favorite at least. |

Musically Killswitch is far better than PM5K, but if you're going to judge music by talent, there are way better genres to get into. It's not about who's "better", it's about who's more enjoyable. "I really fucking hate PM5K" is way better than "PM5K sucks". Killswitch bores me to tears, but they don't suck. I just don't enjoy them. |

He mentions her eyes quite bit in the song, and the sun in the first verse, so my vote is for sun-eyed. But the fact that the song also has a lot of morbid imagery and the booklet leaves the word out probably means that he intends a double-meaning - sun-eyed and cyanide. Whenever I hear songs where words could work two ways, I always wonder why no one takes advantage of that type of thing by doing it intentionally. Looks like Beck did. |

Seems like it's just an indy music montage. Lot's of music-related names (Pat Smear, Husker Du, SST, Lemonheads, etc.), There's probably other stuff I just don't recognize. Sister was the name of a previous album of theirs. Could be a lot of stuff, but probably just a bunch of music-themed stuff that fit together. |

I think it's simply him pushing away "deep philosophy." A lot of the time philosophy (especially in religion, politics, poetry, etc.) just gets ridiculous and over-the-top. It's just fancy words and sophist logic that attempts to just catch you off guard (i.e. rape you). So essentially he could just be saying he just choses to hear gibberish when it comes to that stuff because he's so sick of it.
However, knowing Sting it was probably just a temporary mood. He obviously enjoys that stuff at times. |
