Misfits – Bullet Lyrics 19 years ago
Originally engaged to a New York stock broker, Jacqueline Kennedy ended the relationship upon meeting the charismatic Democratic hope for the next election. While married to Kennedy, rumours surfaced concerning an affair with Frank Sinatra. Following the assassination of her husband, Jacqueline undertook a diplomatic mission to Asia; on such perusing Aristotle Onassis, her escort whom she had met on a cruise taken while her husband was very much alive. The world’s richest man and Jacqueline wed soon after, only to have Onassis struck down by phenomena a mere six years later. Jacqueline coped with such tragedy by going on wild spending sprees. Her last rumoured romance was with a diamond merchant.

Quite simply, Jacqueline Kennedy’s love life was a tangled one, unarguably moreso than that of her playboy of a husband - her fulfilling more than her share of matrimonial transgressions. Furthermore, even if faithful, she rests as little more than an elegant gold digger.

Arise jackie o, jonathon of kennedy
Well, arise and be shot down
The dirt’s gonna be your dessert
My cum be your life source
And the only way to get it
Is to suck or fuck
Or be poor and devoid
And masturbate me, masturbate me
Then slurp it from your palm
Like a dry desert soaking up rain
Soaking up sun
Like a dry desert soaking up rain
Soaking up sun

Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics 20 years ago
I believe this sound is a touching elegy to Amy Lee's insufferable weight problem.

"I wish that you would just leave
'cause your prescence still lingers here
and it won't leave me alone"

Absolutely gorgeous lyrics.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Switch Lyrics 20 years ago
Arguably the best album Siouxsie has ever put out, The Scream was once of the most influencial albums for the goth rock sound.
I adore this track, and find it a fine way to wrap up the album; resonably low key, yet undeniably catchy.
"Watch the muscles twitch
for a brand new switch... "

Senses Fail – One Eight Seven Lyrics 20 years ago
'By the way, never take anyones lyrics literally. They're all emotion.'

That's a bit of a gross generalization, don't you think? Not all lyrics have to be filled with deep, convoluted meaning, nor do they have to be the vocalization of sheer emotion.
Both poets and song writers often write about simple incidents in their life, passing experiences, and, you know, completely literal things.
Leave it to a bunch of pompous teenagers and pseudo-intellectuals to construct meaning where there is none and beat a confession out of a purely literal piece.

Then again, that's not really the case with this particular song.
The case is moreso: it's complete and utter garbage.

Pop punk (occasionally lacing the droning saccharine power cords with a scream or two doesn’t alter this fact, nor does focusing the subject matter on violence) traditionally doesn't take much musical talent to construct or perform. Any enduring pop punk bands have survived based on their lyrical writing abilities, and their lyrical writing abilities alone, based on the simple fact that it is the only true defining factor of this otherwise awful genre.
However, with lyrics such as, "I should have know that you were a killer, but now I'm dead.", a long-withstanding legacy of Senses Fail seems highly unlikely.
