I had a look and didn't see anybody mention it: With Placebo's often highly sex-conscious lyrics, did the "blind" connection not stick out to anybody else? "Don't drive me blind" is likely referring to the myth that masturbating makes you blind, and if the relationship is gone then he will be "driven blind" by the lack of sex. |

The "Phone Call from Poland" is another name for the "Missionary" sex position. Basically a girl he likes or previously dated or whatever found him inadequate and he's looking back and imaging her having sex with other guys. "and i know i give you comfort, but this trouble makes me sick and the longer i lay here, i know it's harder to get up without you lose another day here lose another year here i'm with you" All of this is saying that he feels trapped in a relationship that is going nowhere, or that he is not happy with. It's hard to break away though, so he's stuck losing another day, another year. In the end he manages to say goodbye (the last part of the song). A possible interpretation is that he set fire to his apartment (he'd rather burn than fall) to commit suicide, and that was his escape from the relationship. "You are the fire" refers to the fact that it is his relationship that drove him to suicide. |

I think it's darker than that. According to urbandictionary.com, a Brick Shithouse can be an outdoor toilet, and I get the feeling the song is designed to conjure up images of actually being trapped in the lower part of such a toilet. (Yeah, rather disgusting but after "Evil Dildo" I wouldn't put it past them :P) Basically the singing voice is the old lover, and the voice-overs is the new lover. The new lover has put the old lover "in the ground" (i.e. trapped under the toilet) and that's why he's telling him to "meet the brick shithouse". The only thing this doesn't really explain is the sex references, but this is what I think the song is about. It seems I'm rather unique in this view :S |
