| i think this song is telling of a guy and girl that sneak off at night to be alone, get drunk, bang it out. definitely just enjoying the rush of not being where you should and running through the neighborhood as it sleeps. they do it all the time, like a routine, "a promise was made without thought as the temperature climbed," their relationship is based mainly on sex and hiding it from everyone, the temperature rising indicating that their having sex. the sweat from sex, it all seems to point in the same direction for me. | |

i believe all of the words support rather simply that this song is about a relationship. he wants his space, although he loves her he doesn't want all of his time to be spent with her because he likes to be alone sometimes. he's plainly saying he personally just likes to be alone and wants her to try and work the relationship around that. i don't see it any other way really. |

you can't listen to this song and not get the fxck up and dance. i know thats what i do all the time now. lol. the conor connection hit me immediatly, with "lost in his chemicals" and "hooded and black, lost and stumbling" its just so blaitant to me cuz i know all bright eyes songs so well and that stood out so well. i got really excited when i figured that out too. but apparently so did everyone else. lol. the real buzzkill is fxcking kianna sang it. nothing against her i mean i think her voice is awesome and especially perfect for this song but i dont understand why neely didn't. cuz if its about conor then neely HAD to have alot to do with the writing of this song, at least the lyrics. im impressed with the lyrics if they truly are about conor. theres so many references to so many bright eyes songs/themes that they seem to rly know their shit. i know everyone's gonna say "bleh you think every song is about conor" and naturally ppl do, but this is just overwhelming. "free, chemicals, hooded (gold mine gutted, those hooded sweatshirt walks), drunk, over chords (conor=singer)" you get the picture, i love bright eyes and tilly. btw conor and neely need to just hook back up already, cuz if they don't, then im going to omaha myself and stealing neely away. lol |

i love this song so much. the chords that conor plays change so much, they're so beautiful and out of the ordinary. but thats def. conor's voice, it sounds just like him when he was younger. and i agree with whoever said conor was helping a kid learn english as a second language, thats what it sounds like. his mom was also the principal of a school, maybe he was helping a kid at her school or something. i love this album so much. the best album ever for sure. if you listen closely, somebody says something at the beginning of the song right before Conor says "alright". what does he say? i always wondered where they got that passage at the begginning from, im def. getting that book now. i always thought the song was about inevitable change, as in Mitchell moving, but Margot not wanting him to. |

yea, i first heard it on the thing listed above. this song is so great, just the way he lightly sings the words like he's gracefully tip toeing over his lyrics makes the lyrics sound so pure, def. the way it should be. i can't describe how much this song calms me down and makes me happy yet sad, i dunno, but its such a solid song. he should have released it on a more known and obtainable CD before Noise Floor |

i agree with some of you, its pointed towards themselves, its meant to be ironic and hypocratic, This unique approach to start an EP Intended to shock, create a mystique A cheap strategy, a marketing scheme Building awareness for the next LP its pretty much what people would think that they're doing with this song, but they're making a song like that, to make fun of it, its kinda confusing but it makes sense to me. Also they mention to Fugazi and Shudder to Think, those are they're influences. Its also about the radio and other bands, hit song, let it burst and bloom, if its a hit on the radio, it bursts and blooms into an entire franchise of music, but they need more hit songs, it keeps repeating. Add it all up, its about music and themselves, and the connection. what they have to do with everything else, and where they fit into the whole thing, thats what i get out of it. by the way, i saw them in cleveland, best show ever, it was the first time i heard this song, and i hearted it from then on. |
