I dont think slipknots matured they have always been very mature, but they have most certaintly become much more intelligent. as for the song, i dont take a huge liking too it, the percusion is amazing at the end and i think its about changing because does the song not fade into itself so many times? just like a circle fold into itself, also when he talks about dust and acient and his father, hes looking into his past. i think this song is about the past and the future are linked like a circle in some kind of reincarative belief |

this song is reacting to all of the shit fed to slipknot! prelude is just before it and the transition between the NOOOOO and the insane drums flows perfectly. prelude is the blister and then this is them being pissed off about it. (bones in the water and dust in my lungs!!!!) this is exploitiing and complaining about the damage done and that he is now uneven and that something will probably be done about it. |

i see theres a lot of comments on this song, its depressin but i have no idea where you got slipknot "matured" from. their previous albums werent childs play and just destructive to scare people slipknot stands for something they always have and they kick fucking ass. as for the song, i dont think it has to do with corey himself or his girlfriend, its slipknot telling a story but its not directly their story, jsut a story in general about love and destruction, and accepting all of the shit that happens (i wont let this build up inside of me) and coming to terms with whatever is messing you up and making you slip (love, drugs, self abuse, suicidal tendencies) and trying to negotiate with whats torturing you, kind of like tattered and torn but obviously a softer, more forgiving and humble mood |

This song could be about suicide (I agree with lip gloss and ashes). and i dont think that from the lyrics, i think that from the NOOOOOO at the end, you can hear the pain in coreys voice you can hear it, the desperation. but you people always interperet songs by lyrics. im not saying thats a bad thing but its not open minded enough to get the full understanding of this song, yes maybe with another band but not slipknot. slipknots song can be interpreted musically too, they are reveolutionary and they dont need words to explain what the hell they are talking about. be more open minded and listen to the song, ignoring the lyrics so you can feel the song's personallity. maybe im crazy but maybe some of you know what im talking about, any true maggots anyways. their songs are so bipolar, amazing, true, and beautiful. listen to vermillion, vermillion part 2 and prelude and you can defenitly feel the song through their intruments not just their lyrics. you cant do it with jsut one insturment you need the whole damn band together and they make this massive story like thing in their songs. |
