I didn't read ALL of the comments here, but some ... and I can totally understand your point of view, but I think I see the song a little different. The most "important" line to me was always this: "It was my turn to decide I knew this was our time No one else will have me like you do No one else will have me, only you" ... because I could soo relate to this. This reminded me of my boyfriend (well, ex-boyfriend now) who decided to quit our relationship, because it just wasn't the way it used to be, feeling weren't really there anymore. Still he told me that this was the best time of his life and maybe he will never feel like this again. I see this situation in this passage of the text. It was his way to decide to finish the relationship, he appreciates the time that they had together, and he says "no one else will have me like you do" ... meaning that no one else can make him feel this way again, although he is the one finishing the relationship. From this perspective you could interprete the first part of the song: "I felt for sure last night At once we said goodbye No one else will know these lonely dreams No one else will know that part of me Im still driving away And Im sorry every day I wont always love these selfish things I wont always live... Stop it..." Last night he broke up with his girlfriend, that had to say goodbye after being together for such a long time. He thinks that maybe no one else will ever see him like this again, or that he won't show those feelings for another one, because although they split he still thinks that this may have been the best time of his life (with another person). The "selfish" thing part for me is that it was kind of selfish of him to break up, because he thought of him first, and that makes him feel sorry for the girl. Then the last part: "You'll sit alone forever If you wait for the right time What are you hoping for? Im here and now Im ready Holding on tight Dont give away the end The one thing that stays mine" I think this is the situation of the girl. He sees her holding on to their time and not wanting to start a new relationship with someone else, because she feels this may just no be right.. So when she meets someone new she still thinking about him and how it used to be. "Don't give away the end,..." for me means that this is the only thing left for him, to stop the relationship, because in the end it somehow didn't work out. Ok, maybe I see things like that, because I am/was in a similar situation. But the lyrics seem to fit perfectly to it. What do you think? |

| I think this is about a person that doesn't really know what he/she wants ... he/she just ended a relationship with someone and she says to herself that the other one doesn't mean anything at all to her. on the other side she says : you could mean everything. if the other one said he wants her back, she'd probably take him back, because she still has feelings. maybe if the circumstances were different the person would love other one to death. but because of the partner not saying things 'right' ... he doesn't mean anything to her ... ok this was a bit complicated .. maybe you know what I mean ;) | |
