i think this song is not talking about the human race as a whole, but rather businessmen, corporations. they will do anything deceitful. "purpose, profit, act only to gain". well, numbers exceeding the billions would suggest the human race, but he might be saying that there is that trace of whatever that is in every human heart. if left unchecked, everyone might turn out like that. idk. i have the general idea, but maybe not the specifics. great song though, no question. |

maybe, ok MAYBE, he is actually singing from the BRIDE'S perspective, and she is glad that SHE heard them talking about it instead of someone else who might tell her husband to be and ruin the marraige. since she heard it, and she's not gonna tell anyone obviously, the marraige is saved. idk. just a guess, tryin to get at another angle here. |

| Opeth – Moonlapse Vertigo Lyrics

monlapse vertigo, he is not talking about a relationship between a slave and a white woman, hes the fucking demon of the fall. he is death. My Arms, Your Hearse? didnt that ring a bell? his presence blackens all around him. and in this case, keeping with the theme of the saga he has unfolded, moor means a broad area of open land, often high but poorly drained, with patches of heath and peat bogs. this kind of area is perfect for setting the mood of darkness and despair that he obviously feels because he cannot be with Melinda, his true love. people arent predjudiced against him because he is black...HE IS DEATH, THE DEMON OF THE FALL. |
