| I also heard in the live version that this song is about haircuts, which yeah if you focus really hard on haircuts when you listen to and read the lyrics, they do go together somewhat..but it was a bit of a dissapointment when I heard the live version and heard it was about haircuts because this was one of my favorite songs, was hoping for a bit more meaning behind it. :-p But just because he said it was about haircuts doesn't mean it needs to mean that way to everyone. Great song. | |

| I'm stumped about this song, but Meteddica had some good points. Still, I just can't seem to put anything with this song..but as Untouchable1 said, it does sound like a very personal song about someone. That's what I thought when I first heard it. Some songs are just not meant to be defined.. :-] | |

| Zedzed, "Promise me, You will not ever leave" I *think* all he says afterwords is again, "Promise me, You will not ever leave..again" Would make sense..But you're right, its hard to understand if there's anything else said. | |

| Oh, and it is possible that this song has two meanings..a music video meaning and a lyric meaning. They wouldn't be the first band to write a song about something specific and make the video about something totally different. | |

I wasn't exactly sure what this song meant until I came here, after reading all the comments i've decided that it sounds like the drinking problem meaning. Parts of the song are coming together now after knowing about the drinking now. This sky will make me sick, so I'll give up on this, ill give up on you Being drunk and simply looking up to the sky can be a horrible situation, making you sick..when you have a bad drinking problem, knowing that something that simple can't easily be done while drunk, so give up on the alcohol. Raise your fingers for one last salute Fingers doesn't have to mean two fingers, could mean all your fingers, your hand or bottle, hand and bottle wouldnt fit into the song, syllable-wise. Raise up your glass one last time, Salute. But if it's about the two finger salute being equivelant to the middle finger, maybe he's methaphorically saying "fuck you" to the alcohol. But I don't care for your sweet scent Or the way you want me more than I want you I agree that this is about the scent of the alcohol. Being an alcoholic, the alcohol can have a hold of you..almost an addiction. hHe doesn't want to be attached anymore, but the alcohol does what it does.. Your history is mine His alcoholism is gone, it's history.. But eh, could be wrong. :-p |

I really think this song is about Matt almost dying in the hospital.. "So pull this switch and see my body twitch" Life support? "As we dance on this memory Despair has devoured me whole" He's happy remember everythinghe's accomplished as he lies on his deathbed, instead of grieving, he wanted people to remember him, even though sadness devoured him. "A seed wont grow from this soul" Matt Davie's truly a unique person in the music business, his lyrics, voice song emotion..all rare. This is saying, if he died, no one could replace him. "This pull wont cure my disease Cant you kill this beating heart" Simply just want to die, wants his illness to go away, he wants things back to normal, either kill him or let him live..not a painful line between the two. "I plead forgive me 'Cos I'm no martyr You're not the cause I'm looking for" Forgive him for not being able to have been stronger, he can't do it all. I love FFAF..and this new album, awesome. I'm glad they decided to try something more "melodic". I love all their albums though, of course. |

I agree with TripleFang, but that's not to say that Bendova0524's meaning is incorrect, I'm just going on what I felt when I first heard the song. It reminded me of me and my ex and how she always listened to what people were saying about our relationship rather than going with what she felt. "I just can't see why you neglected to try To move on with our lives When we shared the goodbye You let them decide The course of my life We shared the goodbye And you threw me aside You'll never make that choice again No not again Will you affect my life again" She never tried to hear her own feelings. When it was time to say goodbye, it ruined my life, not hers..because it was her choice. Threw me aside, won't ever be able to make decisions about my life and won't ever affect my life again. |
