technically its a mood stabilizer or 'anti-manic agent.' so it helps bipolar types with their depression but it would not be prescribed like a typical anti-depressant for someone that is unipolar. i'm also not sure why so many people characterize it as having sedative qualities. in a year of living with a pretty strong dose, I feel no such thing. just throwing it out there for people, because pop culture (i.e. movies like Garden State) kinda give it a bad rep |
