i can relate with this song soo much because my mom just got remarried and its just liek that "tell mr. man with impossible plans to just leave me alone in the place where i make no mistakes in the place where i have what it takes " my stepdad has been calling me a failer and shit cuz i dont make straight a's in school and i never have he just comes in my life and wants to change me... it also relates with a girl i just met and really like her but she has another boyfriend "that's the girl that he takes around town she appears composed, so she is, i suppose who can really tell? she shows no emotion at all stares into space like a dead china doll" and thats how she is with him and so now i can't get to know her because of her boyfriend |

i think the lyrics are vague it can relate to many things including drugs or love. my interpretation of this song is the first couple lines is about drugs specially lsd can be frightning. and i think cake is just what ever you want it to be in the way that "cake will make you fat but its good" a metaphor for w/e makes you feel that way...the rest of the song is a bit more confusing to me at first i thought it was a continuation to the first part and it goes into hurting your friends with this "sin" of whatever kind and not being able to stop but then it says "for memory and clarity, we had better write it down. I have no way of knowing the truth with time...dissolves..." and that reminds me of the way that with time truth is distorted into whatever sells and than "I put the past into the ground. I saw the future as a cloud. If there's still time to turn around, I'm going to." i can relate wiht that going back to the drug thing but also could be saying the way they erase the truth or covered it and follow into the future with w/e your told but "he wants the real truth" so if there still any truth to turn back to hes going to and than the last lines "I am the first one I deceive if I can make myself believe the rest is easy." is just concluding it wiht truth is what you are told...there is no real truth...well that what i think...it could also be the drug thing to...i love bright eyes this isnt one of my favorites but i thought i would put my word in |
