I love this song more than I love chocolate. Or cookie dough. Or this kid that I'm in love with that likes some other chick...
but anyhooooo.
This is the deepest song I have ever heard about such a seemingly shallow subject. If someone told me that they loved a song about the way a girl looked and how much a guy loved it and worried about how he would look around her, I'd never expect it to be so deep and wonderful and beautiful and amazing. I bet Chris could write a deep song about...ummmm... chicken if he wanted. |

So... I thought about it for a long time, and I think I finally figured it out. I mean obviously, it's about existensialism, and how everything you do determines your meaning in life and how everything ends up. And I even mean tiny little things, like deciding to walk down a different hallway. Even if it seems like it doesn't matter, you could meet someone or see something that could change your whole life. But, I think when it says "sing like you think no one's listening," it just means act like what you do doesn't matter, and it's not going to affect you forever. And then "you would kill for this, just a little bit," means that the person he's talking to would do anything just to be able to do whatever they want, without having to deal with the consequences. So, maybe it means that on prom night, they wanna have sex, but they know that they can't cuz it could mess up the rest of their lives...
What responsible young kids :)

i agree with all the shakespeare comparisons.
i love the way he says the f word but it still sounds nice and sweet and pretty and everything........i love mcr sooooooooooooo much i that my love for them could come gushing from my belly button and my ears and nose at any minute. |

i agree with country boy...
what do you expect if you listen to rap and hip hop and all that crap?
i listen to this song occasionally cuz its fun to dance to...but honestly, you cant complain that its meaningless if you listen to hip hop. of course its dirty and meaningless...its like, a joke with my friends and i cuz its soooo disgusting. |

oh my freaking goodness!!!! i love this song cuz it completely describes how i feel sometimes... its like when your depressed or tired or just unhappy about something and everyone wants to talk about all this crap and you just dont care and you cant make yourself care. and then it gets awkward cuz your not saying anything but they dont even notice that somethings wrong...they just keep on talking and talking and talking and talking. and you want to scream in their freaking face and yell and freak out at them until they finally get that your not as happy as they are...but instead you just sit there and nobody even notices...its pretty depressing.... |

i love the way that this song sounds..... but am i the only one who thinks that it gets repetitive after a while? i cant even listen to the whole thing unless im going to sleep or something. the meaning is pretty much obvious... i think prepare to be wrong is awesome and i dont see why people dont like it as much as their old cd.... everybody keeps saying that but nobody gives their reason why....grrrrrrrrrrr. and emo kid, how can you not be impressed with her voice. its beautiful!!! |

i love when he screams at the end. i think that chris is one of the only vocalists who can scream without just sounding angry. he actually expresses his emotions and you can tell that he is desperate and sad and depressed. its such a perfect way to end the cd....i cry almost every time i hear it.... chris is my homeboy...or something like that |

when he says 'the places you have come to fear the most is the place that you have come to fear the most' he means that shes been hiding inside herself (the grave that you refuse to leave, the refuge that youve built to flee) but now everything is so messed up that she cant even hide inside herself anymore cuz she doesnt even like herself.... at least thats what i think....i love dashboard so much i cant even explain...im addicted and i cant ever fall asleep at night unless i listen to them... is voice is just so pure and emotional and perfect :) |

if you dont like dashboard, then why the heck are you even on here? I mean really, this site is to discuss the meanings of songs and stuff like that...grrrrrrrr.......but anyway, i love this song...dashboard music is so....pretty.....i personally think its the guy asking the girl all the questions and the only part where the girl is talking to him is at the beginning when she asks him to the party...and then he doesnt want her to like "dishing the dirt on the whole class", but if she does he loves her enough to go along with it or something...thats just what i think. |
