| It is very obvious what this song mean but still, I must comment. This is about a relationship where there is nothing wrong between the two people in the relationship, but still everyone in their lives is keeping them apart, be it parents, or friends or what. They are saying that they have no choice, they have to obey the rules and stay apart. But then at the very end when they sings when "love makes the choice, it has a voice" they are saying that the people in the relationship decided that they are meant to be together so they will stay together no mater what everyone else says. | |

| I think this song is about her being raped. The age I think is around 11 or 12. And I think that she didn;t know who he was, which is why I think its rape because she says about not knowing his name. And too young to know I had it so it didnlt hurt to lose it. When you are 12 you don't really know about virginity, so pretty much she knew he hurt her and she it was wrong but it took a while for her to understand everything about it. How can there only be 2 comments on this song. It is beautiful. I think she is talking about a relationship that went wrong and she is saying that no matter what happens between them they will always have the memories of when they were together. And with the chorus she is saying that everything that they felt may have just been true at the time. Like in the line "Some love is not really love at all." I think she is saying that in retrospect she realizes that they really didn't truly love each other. And I think she asked him if they would ever be together again and he told her no, hence the line "Somewhere between then and now, I looked away when you said We'll never change." I relate this entire song to my exboyfriend. Just about a relationship that changed you more than you ever expected it to. And I think that she is saying that she will always care about him no matter what. |

I definately agree that it is about a guy telling a girl that he won't hurt her. With my ex boyfriend, I didn't trust him at all and when I first played this song, I immediately called him and had him listen to it and he said that the band should have been singing to me, that's how hard it hit home. I especially like the line, "Oh, you're so sure I'll be leaving in the end, you're treating me like I'm already gone, but I'm not, I will stay where you are always." That was something that my ex used to say to me all the time. And although we did break up we still talk and he is still ther for me, so I can still relate to this song and it's my favorite Dashboard Confessional song. |
