| Shinedown – Second Chance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Unless he's singing about 1986, he did NOT "just see" Halley's comet. Maybe I'm taking it too literally, but as an astrophysics major, I feel compelled to turn this song off every time it comes on the radio. | |

This song struck a chord with me when my sister was shot in the neck. I was never a big believer in God, but always tried to lead a good life anyways. After she was shot, I saw my whole family crying and praying that she'd recover, but when we found out that the bullet pierced the spinal cord, I felt that if there is a God, he's betrayed me and my family. God's a fucking asshole if he does exist. He's all-powerful, and could have easily deflected the bullet to hit the pavement, but no, he'd rather see my sister paralyzed for life. (I'm over it now, but that was my feeling when it happened, and why the song resonated with me like that) |

| Tesla – Edison's Medicine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Atomichron pretty much nailed it. I discovered Tesla long after I had graduated high school. Just like the song said, never heard or read a single word about Nikola Tesla. Heard plenty about Edison, but Tesla completely outshone Edison. But, since Tesla was born in Austria, and Edison was American, we only learn about Edison. Perhaps Edison really did sell his soul so we'd never know... |

| Stone Sour – 30/30-150 Lyrics | 19 years ago |

To me, this song is about the same sort of thing Disturbed's "Down with the sickness" is about... The youth culture rebelling against the "mother society." It's about the disaffected, disinfranchesed people, acting as free individuals that don't fit into the "acceptable mold" of scoeity. You've seen them at concerts... strange hairstyles, 14 piercings, 22 tattoos... or no tattoos and no piercings, but a passion for heavy metal music... Or any number of things that a typical Christian suburban soccer mom wouldn't approve of. This can be seen in the lyrics of "I don't want to be an angel, I just want to be God." He doesn't want the approval of the aforementioned soccer mom. He wants to be an autonomous individual in total control of his own life... i.e. a god. That's who "they" called the "dead generation" in the song. People that do what they want. Left alone to die (in the maelstrom), they survived, and they're rising up against the people that wanted them to die (figuratively speaking, at least). Now that they're alive, they remember the past, everything they went through growing up in the "one-sided world," and the are full of hate because of it. This is where the 30-30/150 comes into play. It's a bullet, as has been mentioned already. That's the rebellion part... rebelling against the mother society. Many Disturbed songs, particularly Down with the Sickness, as I mentioned, carry this theme. |

| Trivium – Entrance Of The Conflagration Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This reminds me of ...And Justice for All era Metallica as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that. The voice really is an uncanny resemblence to a young James Hetfield. By the way, I love metal without much screaming. In my opinion, too much screaming ruins a lot of otherwise great songs. Check Scar Symmetry's "The Illusionist." The parts where he's sining, it's amazing, the parts where he's growling, it detracts from the song, in my opinion. After hearing this song, I'm going to have to buy this album. |

| Disturbed – Land of Confusion (Genesis cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

the_white_stripe: The black faced man is named "The guy." He first made his debut on Disturbed's Ten Thousand Fists album. Todd McFarlane drew that cover art, and created the video for this song. Todd McFarlane, of course, is known for his Spawn character, who, like The Guy, also straddles the line between good and evil in a similar fashion. |

| Avenged Sevenfold – Unholy Confessions Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| All you need to know about Atreyu and A7X is that Atreyu was on the second stage at Ozzfest, and A7X was the 4th to play on the main stage. | |
| Lacuna Coil – Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Actions speak louder than words... This song speaks loudly the truth amidst its dulcet tones. | |
| Tesla – Modern Day Cowboy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's a song comparing old cowboy outlaws to more modern gang warfare to the Cold War. One of my favorite Tesla songs. | |
| Eminem – Lose Yourself Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one of the only rap songs I like... The lyrics are easy to relate to. Even if it isn't going up on stage, everybody at some point in their life has to face challenges, and this song puts into words perfectly the thoughts and feelings one runs into at those points in our lives. | |
| Tesla – Edison's Medicine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
