it was the top album and RS was taking alot of drugs he probably doesn't even remember writing this (or recording it) it could be a nonsense or it could be something profound when I hear this song I think of the revolutionary war and how men were fighting for what at the time was an empty new world but thats cuz of the music and the military drums. The lyrics confuse me |

this song feels so good to listen to. The intro pulls you in with an infectious riff and then the vocals grip you. I think the song is about doing what you want. If you listen to the in orange concert Robert says "this song is about when i used to wear a dress and travel on the train" but he very could have well said "this song is about when i used to skip school and eat ice cream " just go for it is the theme. |

"Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone Alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me" daylight licked me into shape....what a frickin brilliant line the raging sea metaphor is interesting as well |

| The Cure – 2 Late Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"So I'll wait for you Where I always wait Behind the signs that sell the news" this gives the impression of a secret romance "And hope for you One day that once Spent out on me And up 'til late" hoping one day they dont have to hide the secret. "I search for you Your hat pushed straight Away from me Your measured step Heads up you win Always too late" this is brilliant wordsmanship. He cant find her and he knows she could find him if she wanted to. "If I could just once catch your eye Invisible against the words That hold you down in solitude And never let you go The way that every time My eyes just close Like lids of wooden men in file I put you under rainy day Your hat's all off And I'm gone away..." please let me see you again and I wont disapoint you. (this song may be the most brilliant love song ever recorded that noone heard, it's buried as a b side on the love song single) |
