It's a pretty boring song I think, at least the mid section. The highlights being the main riff starting around 0:28 and the outro kicking in at 3:54. The outro riff is so good I though it was stolen from somewhere else, but apparently not.
Also the demo version is much better (in my eyes) than the actual recorded version. |

Personally I don't read too much into that line, I just let it go into my unconscious and not think about it. There's a part at the end where that line is repeated along with a three chord melody and heavy distortion. It is beautiful. |

At the end he sings "Don't know, don't care, all I know is that you take me there."
At the part near 4:16 which is barely audible he sings "I wanna try now, I'm gonna make you mine now."

I've since learned more about the song. Apparently it *was* on morning glory, at least the early promo copies of it. Any oasis fan who hasn't heard it is in for a treat. It truly deserved to be on the album and is one of the catchiest songs I have ever heard. |

I would say this is one of the best rock songs of all time, and that, had it been written 40 years ago it would regularly be bumping "stairway to heaven" off of favorites lists. But I don't want to overhype it for those who haven't listened yet. Instead I will just say it is a mediocre song.
It is, however, the best of the album along with Slide Away. Arguably the two best things in life are spending time with good friends and being in love, and Noel certainly does them justice on this album, if not makign a strong argument for a third item (music) to be added to that list. |

The starting of a song with the lyrics "can anybody fly this thing?" is pretty awesome.
Then the wa-wa effect around 3:15 that takes it into the final chorus is just beautiful. |

Actually you're right. Maybe he meant they were on the 'happy' side?
But like I said I don't really pay attention. To me the lyrics in this song are there to pass time between the instrumental parts. The first twenty seconds, for example, is one of the catchiest pieces of music I've ever heard. |

Supposedly this song was going to be on What's The Story. It was only cut because of a technical issue, one of the guitarists couldn't learn their part.
IMO it would have ranked up there with the trio of Wonderwall/Champagne Supernova/Don't Look Back In Anger. |

This song sounds great on the AT&T commercial, it's no wonder that it currently ranks 3rd in Oasis downloads behind Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.
I wish they would trim it down and re-release it as a single, at least in the US. To bad it'll never happen. |

The meaning of this song to me is purely musical. From 2:45 to 3:16 there is a fake outro. Why they decided to continue after that, I don't know. But it is fucking brilliant. I have a feeling Noel was responsible for that part.
Unless you particularly appreciate melody, guitar solos, etc. I can see why you would have a hard time getting into this song. |
