| Bob Dylan – Hurricane Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Seen the film LA Confidential? I find quiet a lot of relation between this song and the film. Great song. | |
| Sonic Youth – The Diamond Sea Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Anyone noticed that the chorus sounds like "Wouldn't it be nice" by the Beach Boys? It might be a coincidence, or maybe they inspired themselves in that song. Great song anyway, haunting and deep. |

| Stiff Little Fingers – You Can't Say Crap on the Radio Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Good song about censoreship. By the way, the ending of the song is pretty much like Capital Radio, from The Clash. Might be a little tribute. | |
| X-Ray Spex – Oh Bondage Up Yours! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Whatever it means, the line "some people think little girls should be seen and not heard" is clear. Feminism. It reminds me of Bikini Kill, not as raw as BK, but the sax gives X-RS a magic touch. The lyrics are sarcastic, of course. | |
| The Clash – Janie Jones Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love the lines like "you lucky lady" "fill her up jako" "it's pretty bad", those lines give much more live and strenght to the song. It is obiusly about bosses treating employees like emotionless robots. | |
| Nirvana – Spank Thru Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song reminds me to the early 20th century spanish writters, being the first part modernist, and the second part expresionist. | |
| The Clash – Jimmy Jazz Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The cops looking for jimmy jazz can be understood as a methaphore for people that are just going into the mainstream punk at that time, and forgetting Jazz, that was one of the bases of rock music. Its like he is defending jazz by fooling the police. I dont know, that is my opinion. | |
| The Clash – Clampdown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it mixes the nazi regime "is this man a jew? blue eyed men, twisted speech.." while it says somethging about factory workers, i think and how working at factories changes people "the best years of your life they want to steal; till you brutalize, made your first kill now" love the song, sounds brilliant, but I preffer live versions rather than the LC one, the one you can find at youtube is great great great! | |
| The Clash – (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| One of my favs, its incredible! The reggae instrumentals rock while it has some nice guitar accion, but for me the best of it are the lyrics, talking about the superficial and comercial bands of the late 70's. Its utterly true and the sound is really good. The next station is Hammersmith, change here for the hammersmith & City lines, please mind the gap between the train and the station. Mind the gap, mind the gap, mind the gap, mind The Clash! | |
| The Clash – I'm Not Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
So you rock around and think that You're the toughest In the world, the whole wide world But you're streets away from where It gets the roughest You ain't been there I think this is a reference to the bands at that time, its really self explanatory, and the whole song, to me is about not giving up. |
|
| Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The middle part of the song also reminds me to "Whole lotta love" by Led Zep. It is some kind of nostalgic feeling to the 60-70 psycodelical rock. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song reminds me of "Something in the way", by Nirvana. Mostly because of the tittle. Notice that the guitar playing at the start sounds pretty much like the start of "Achilles last stand" By Led Zeppelin. | |
| Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is nothing more than an abstract emotional love song, abstract poetry. What i love about this song is that it is a love song, but its fast and noisy. That makes me think that Kurt wanted to scape from the usual love song by writing it in an abstract way. It drives me hyperactive like most nivana songs, as i dont find them depressing (i dont understand why so many people thinks nirvana songs are depressing, Kurt did put a lot of feelings on his songs (without fogeting the contributions of the other bandmates that played their roll pretty well. Each member of the band had the same importance, Nirvana was not just Kurt, it was the feelings of all the members, freedom from all pain, musical freedom. Please, stop arguing about the "meaning" of the lyrics. Lyrics are not the most important part of any Nirvana song. In this one, emotions are the important thing 8i think). Please, dont argue with anybody for the lyrics of a song, just share your opinion calmly with the rest of the people. Just keep listening to thi lovely band, dont try to analyse the lyrics as they are abstract (like so many contemporary paintings) and dont forget to sing out loud! Peace |

Hi. I have noticed that the guitar playing from SLTS sounds pretty much like a part of "U-Mass" (song by The Pixies) In fact i read once that Kurt claimed SLTS to be his failed atempt of writting a Pixies song. I like this song, but i don´t undertand why so many people think this is the best Nirvana song. I personaly think that he wrote better song than this one (like Drain You, Pen cap chew, In bloom, All apologies, Pennyroyal tea, Spank thru, Floyd the barber, Big long now... and many others) About the meaning: Most of the firs Nirvana songs did not have a meaning, they were just wrote some minutes before recording, and so they dont really have a meaning. Kurt said that they were all pices of poetry without a meaning (like the 20's film "Un chien andalou" by Dali and Buñuel. It was a 15 minutes film without sense, the directors wanted to show people that a film doesnt have to have a meaning (like a lot of nirvanas song, which thy are just emotions. The Pixies wrote a song about that film, and its called "Debaser"), but he also said that when looked at the lyrics he wrote, he found a lot of meanings. For me this song has something to do with libidical teens always thinking about sex and partying. Peace! |

| Nirvana – Grey Goose Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Its hard to hear it, but yes, i have noticed about that. I cant say if she was talking or whatever, but there is a womans voice there. | |
| Nirvana – Downer Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It seems to me that he wrote about some thoughts he had, he puted them all together. In the line "conservative communist" i think he disagrees with both extreme political ideas. In the alternative version (i dont know if its correct) that "Nirvanatourettes" pued, when he sings "Somebody served a dinner Much like I am" seems to be related with the line "animals trapped, all became my pets, and im living out of grass", as well as "yes i eat cow im not proud" from Mr.Moustache. It seems that he was thinking about vegetarianisim. peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

It is. I have noticed a second guitar in this song. Is it Pat smear's? or am i paranoid? it might be the bass. peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – On a Plain Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Please, dont try to find out what it ment to kurt. just what it means to you. This is abstract poetry, so dont scrach your head searching for complex meanings. it just means whatever you feel when you listen to it. peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Something in the Way Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hi this might be inspired by one of his childhood adventures, maybe about time he spent there, or just poetry. But thebridge is Young street bridge (http://www.vrseattle.com/pages/browse.php?cat_id=368) there you can se the banks. "Underneath Young" maybe that has got sense, but anyway i think its stupid to waste time searching for hidden messages or meanings, its just poetry after all. Peace OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
First of all, Kurt was Buddhist, and Buddhisim is where the bands name come from. Some people belive that jesus was just a very good man, but not directly God. Maybe the vasselines thought that way, i dont know, anyway, who cares, i think this is a very emotive song and i love it. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I love this song. It seems to me that he sang whatever came to his head in the moment, this makes it sound pretty natural and cool. I love the part when he laughts and says "one more solo? yeaaahhhhh yeahhhhhh!" I wont try to find a meaning, since its stupid to do it. Lyrics are just how they are. The hidden tracks make me belive he didnt wanted the regular 12 songs you can see on most CDs. I think that the 12 song CDs are that way to "save" songs for the next CD. This way they have to work less on their CDs, and so, release more of them and earn more money. That pisses me off. By the way, Kurt was Buddhist, so, why some people say he was satanic? (a catholic? lol). Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Spank Thru Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This one is one of my favourites, once again, it sounds to me like a love song, like if your beloved girl or boy is gone, and you masturbate thinking about that special person you love. peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |
|
| Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
LOVE once again, this song is so beautiful that it almost made me cry. The live version is even better! Lyrics may seem a bit strange, but the way he sings and plays, make me see that he loved someone so much. Its easy to know the kind of things a person is feeling when he sings and/or plays. It also reminds me to the girl i love... Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM Peace! |

| Nirvana – Aneurysm Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hi, this song is one of my favourites. For what ive hear, this song sounds to me like a love song. "Come on over and do the twist" for me this line means something related with sex, or maybe "lets stay together, you will make me happy" (a twist from bad mood to happyness) "Overdo it and have a fit "directly related with the line above. "Love you so much it makes me sick " "Beat me outta me" love me till i faint "She keeps it pumpin' straight to my heart" I need her 'cause without her my herat will stop or i will suffer from aneurysm. This is just what it seems to me, a love song. The first time i hear it i thougt of it as a love song, without playing atention to the lyrics. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hi I'm not like them (He follows the buddhist lessons) But I can pretend (He can pretend he is an ignorant) The sun is gone (now im depresed) But I have a light (but its not over, he will rebirth) The day is done (thats it with this body) But I'm having fun (but i enjoyed it) My heart is broke (i feel lonely) But I have some glue (but i know how to solve this) help me inhale (trust me) And mend it with you We'll float around (we will leave our bodies) And hang out on clouds Then we'll come down (rebirth) And have a hangover Skin the sun Fall asleep ("death") Wish away The soul is cheap (i can rebirth again and again) Lesson learned (Buddhist teachings) Wish me luck Soothe the burn Wake me up (lets do it) I think I'm dumb (what people think about what he is doing) or maybe just happy Think I'm just happy I think I'm dumb I know, im "weird" so? this is just my opinion, but it may also be related with drugs as well. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Heart-Shaped Box Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hi, this song reminds me to rebirth, Kurt was buddhist, and buddist (and some other beliefs) belive in rebirth. "Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath." It seems to me that he is singing about been a baby once again. "Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back." in this line he is going back the the utero. And so, the name of this album is "In Utero", and "Pennyroyal Tea" talks about abortion. I think this makes sense with rebirth. If you look at the albums names: does it bleach (could Bleach be related with purifying?) has anything to do with sperm? then comes the baby from nevermind, next the skeleton from insecticide, and then the utero of the pregnant angel... This is just what seems to me, and... yeah i know, im kind of crazy. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |

| Nirvana – Paper Cuts Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hi, i think Kurt used the story of the kids to explain about life and Buddhisim. Buddhist say that this life is full of pain and desires, and the way to stop the pain is enlightment, Nirvana. When he sings "I see others just like me Why do they not try to escape?" it seems to me that he is talking about the ignorance(not to insult anybody) of the people that are not trying to reach the Nirvana. About "She pushes food through the door" i think its got to do with the tempations that Buddha sufered when he was meditating to reach the Nirvana. "My whole existence is for your amusement" seems to me that he is regreting God in that line. Another thing i have noticed, is that when he sings "Nirvana" for the first time, his voice is filled with anger, but the next times he sings it, he goes calmer and calmer. its like his anger goes down when he says "Nirvana". Its like a mantra of his own. This is just my opinion. Peace! OM MANI PADME HUM |
