And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything my friend mike once said in a short narrative he wrote that sometimes the saddest moments in life are also the most beautiful. this is one of the most beautifuly painful lines ive ever heard in a song. this song could give anyone the chills, i guess i dont have much to say that hasnt already been said. the symbolism and imagry is beautiful. |

first of all, this song is NOT pearl jam feat. neil young. its a neil young song from his album mirrorball. it was recorded in sessions with pearl jam and you can even hear eddie singing a little backup vox on this track, but all the songs n this album were written by neil young. its a very abstract song that thats kind of all over the place but i think its mostly about the problems in modern (1990s) society. about how everybody has their false necesseties : Need distraction, need romance and candlelight Need random violence, need Entertainment Tonight Need the evidence, want the testimony of Expert witnesses on the brutal crimes of love. anyway.... they said in a recent article in rolling stone that the song is about kurt cobain, oj simpson and bill clinton, but to be honest, im not seeing it really. |
