I did a translation for this on iankunx's site once. I looked over both and must say yours is better than mine at some points.
Here's the link: http://www.iankunx.net/excalibur.html
You put "Arcadia" (instead of just "shining paradise") which I thought was a nice touch. The first pre-chorus line was a bit of a pain to translate, wasn't it? I had "O Holy Sword, even when you are handled, is there not one who has power over you?" (haha). Now I think it's like, "(O) Holy Sword, even if I obtain you, there will be one I cannot harm". But it made sense at the time. There's other things too, but eh.
It doesn't really seem like there's much meaning to discuss, haha. |

Nice song, one of the best on X&Y IMO (I almost always love first tracks). I feel kinda jealous now, not seeing 'em. D:
*is trying to understand what one of the first posters means by saying it's a ripoff of U2's song* :S |

All the title really seems to be is a tongue-twister. But it's a rather simple one, at that. >.> Maybe he'll have something to say about it in the future, but eh. XD
Interesting lyrics too, haven't really paid attention to them before now. |

Oh, I see what you did... You put Shingetsu up too, that's OK, you can just edit it I think. Might just post up Cent-J's translation here instead of make a new page (like with Dir en grey here), or you can put it up here were the romaji is yourself if you want.
Anyway, for whoever is reading, the title means "Suicide at Dusk". |

| Dire Straits – Brothers In Arms Lyrics
|
What I like about this song more than just about every war song is it relates to the listener on a personal level (though I'm sure there's others out there I haven't heard). It seems anymore if a song's about war, it's got finger-pointing involved at some point. You can't say that at all here.
"Brothers in Arms" to me encompasses all of humanity. We should all be brothers to each other, no matter where we are. But so far, we haven't been able to get along, making this song seem all the more sad. But some of us are trying, and I'm sure the world would've gone to pot long ago if not for these individuals.
And I agree with thufer completely on the lines about our "different worlds". It's a real shame that we try so hard to live our lives our way and get lost in ourselves and our situations.
Casual Viking, I did not know about that battle. Perhaps I, too, will visit those islands someday. |

^No one ever names Red...[em] ;_; I don't think it's my fave tho, that'd have to be either this, aKL, Marmalade Chainsaw, Obscure, or Drain Away. Kinda grown tired of Kasumi lately...
Towards the middle of the song or w/e, the line "We're in hell under him" is said like in a whisper, coorect? If this is about his ex-fiance what the hell does that have to do with anything?! @_@ |

| Dir En Grey – Clever Sleazoid Lyrics

"isn't kurai ni spelt kurenai? and doesn't it mean crimson."
Kurai = Hodo (about, around, nearly, whatever).
And an interesting thing about the "Koe" used, is not the usual Jap one used, it's the Chinese character for voice (but it also exists in Japanese). Anyway they have the usual Jap one show up in videos on YT, and that's just wrong.
Anyway here's my interprettation: "One day, by yourself, you'll see it, almost unable to speak." Unsure what it means... maybe seeing that all we did is nothing in the long run? Seeing the error of your ways? Bah. |

Not only are the lyrics partly about the flow of time, it's one of those ones that gives you a static feeling. That you're experiencing time flowing and many of the things we think matter really don't. (But that's just me.) |

| Dir En Grey – Kodou (English) Lyrics

I can really relate to this song, and I'm sure many others can too. It's almost in stark contrast to Mushi, where he says his own heart killed him. Even after feeling despair like that for so long, he can still take back and be in control of what's his--his very existence. About the lyrics early on about the eyes, being alone in his room, and living without meaning, I think it's about how he's uncertain of his purpose, so his eyes seem hollow, and he feels lonely, even though he really isn't. Kyo's saying that's not true, and he's tired of feeling that way and that he's very much alive. |

| Malice Mizer – Kyomu no Naka de no Yuugi Lyrics

[About the title inre to Malicious Misery] Well, yuugi can either come to mean game or play... I guess something you know that isn't real. His character perhaps can't find any meaning in life/reality so he's wondering why he's still there, and if he's really there in the first place... perhaps bringing identity issues into it. Anyway, I like that a choir was incorporated into this, it's absolutely beautiful. The abstract words uttered also give it a vivid touch. |

Well, I heard that the man is supposed to have died in the process, hence the line "this child will be born and become you." I just don't get the line about the "person inside a wall"... does it mean the embryo/fetus? Regardless, strange song (can't believe this was actually a single release!) and I loved the abstract English chants. |

What Kilo had said makes sense. It's such a difficult situation that you are never able to surmount it, but something's keeping you from going back, like your pride. You could say it's about suicide; or, rather, being in a constant state of suicidal contemplation. Forty feet remain and they'll always remain, because you can't go back to trying to live again, but you also are unable to kill yourself. Also, the cold he feels could be near-constant fear. |

This is such a sad piece yet there's somewhat of a warm nostalgic feeling to it. Maybe it's about a girl he loved once, and never had a chance to goodbye to her. The next time he finds her: it's night, she's dead and missing a leg. So, he holds her and says goodbye, awaiting the morning. Also, there's a serial killer involved; I'm unsure of whether it's Kyo or not though. |

I've heard this so many times, and I still like it. Just not as much as I used to. It's sad, and also hopeful.

That's right. It's also kind of strange that an artist would mention such a thing in a song, though and say that people are making fun of his ear. I mean, that's pretty personal, yet not really meaning that much. |

The line at the bring to mind lingeringly vivid imagery for me. Though I thought that it's a bit monotonous in a few parts and that the screaming was a bit too much towards the end, but why should everything be the way we want it to be?
I already read a thread on this at an SOAD forum, where I found out about the Aras River in relation to the song. It's a little bit of a history lesson for us Americans and more. |
