Since my last post i've changed my mind. particularly after buying the album and understanding that the bands lyrics are quite dark. I think its about childhood abuse. the lyrics are slightly different in the album cover but not greatly, the one the really strikes out is "I wanna castrate" sometimes altered from "i wanna get straight." if you think about this idea every part of the song can be put to it. u can here child like voices singing parts of the chorus "toot toot toot." The peodophile may have used games to get to the children, "made a porno of the nativity." Its disturbing but i'm almost certain that's what these lyrics are hiding. |

What do you mean by main verse? if you mean chorus...(the repeated one) the backing singer just keeps singing "life less frightnening" otherwise i can't hear anything else. Anyway. I like to think of this song as a prayer. i never prayed much as a child but if i did i never asked for material things, it was always things like having a particular mind set like no fear or happiness. which is what this song is sayin. Soaking with sins of knowing is such a classic line for everyone. we feel guilty that we don't help good causes. maybe we should be hung. The God verse is the main prayer part. it could be seen as a conversation with God. Especially since it says "he". if it said "she" it'd be to a lover. God is filling his mind with fearless purity. I thought this song was talkin about people hoping and praying for something to happen so much that eventually it just happened on it's own yet they think they had some thing to do with the occurence, like the war ending (which the song has to be about- worlds colliding, distance reminds). Native americans danced for rain which of course didn't help but they believed it did with conviction. Maybe they did cause it. We can do the same and dance for peace to wash away the war/drought (not literally kids). will it be our doing when war ends? probably not directly. but it's better than sitting doing nothin. After hearing The First Drop you get a better understanding. but doesn't completely wipe out the above. The First Drop could be looked at as the dance for rain/peace. By telling others to join in your calling of the first bit of cleansing and revival of peace. The songs mean so much but this is the background of it for me. The scene the songs set in my mind are so vast more than any movie or something could ever manage. s'why i love rise against so much. The meloncholy of the Dancing for Rain introduction is like sadly reminiscing a vast arrid landscape. then the song is so angry and challenging like a stampeding people similar to First drop. Gotta have more songs like these on the new album. They so will. Bush getting a second term=unhappy RA members=More hardcore heartfelt politico music for me to obssess over. can't wait. lol. |
