this song is about robert smith having sex for the first time with a prostitute: "girl at the window"; "red light" refers to the prostitute. The prostitute didn't talk with robert, and she also didn't smile. She just did her job. "Is it always like this?", he asks himself. Is sex always so emotionless?
I think some lines in the figurehead also refer to this prostitute, like: "I will never be clean again, I touched her eyes pressed my stained face..." |
