Scar Symmetry – Mechanical Soul Cybernetics Lyrics 16 years ago
Very interesting vocals on this track...I was a bit skeptic at first but I think after reading the lyrics they fit perfectly with the feel of the song.

Scar Symmetry – The Iconoclast Lyrics 16 years ago
Many thanks to the uploader for posting these lyrics and the rest of DMD. Been waiting for these for a while!

The lyrics to this song are great as always from Scar Symmetry! I think its about realising the true potential of the human mind that over time we seem to have forgotten about, yet we all know deep down is there. I guess in this song it's the 'catastrophy' that causes us to wake up...and that's usually the case unofortunately! Great song! One of the best on the new album!

In Flames – Tilt Lyrics 18 years ago
You may have a poitn there Lancerone, the whole EP seems to be about forgetting the past and moving on etc. And also it does seem like with this album In Flames have found their own sound...it just seems more defined and complete somehow. It's very different from their old stuff and its not going to the same but if you ask me it's just as good!

In Flames – Tilt Lyrics 18 years ago
I think these lyrics are almost correct...I'm not too sure on the second verse though, can't really make out what he's saying. Corrections are appreciated! Anyway it's a great song, and again I think the meaning is about how the past can't be changed and is gone...maybe about regrets or perhaps moving on to the future.

In Flames – Eraser Lyrics 18 years ago
Thanks for the corrections! I got the single and just tried listening to the lyrics from the song. There were some parts I wasn't sure on but I think yours sound right to me! Its updated anyway!

As for the meaning I think it's about letting go of the past and moving on forward. Great song!

In Flames – Abnegation (The Mirror's Truth Version) Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm almost 100% on these lyrics :) If anyone has any corrections though they would be appreciated! Great song...I prefer this to the original. I think the meaning is about our planet and the damage we are doing to it!

In Flames – The Mirror's Truth Lyrics 18 years ago
I think these are the correct lyrics. Not 100% on the second verse but I think the chorus and the rest are mostly correct. Any corrections are very welcome :)

This spectacle will collapse,
It's not a false alarm,
The ashes settle in.

I guess we are the insane,
As we ignore the mirror's truth.
Should I join the feast?
Should I acknowledge the leash?
A future in captivity,
I'm not who I'm supposed to be.

We're not even trying,
Let this light explode.

The bleeding, we deceive them,
Fuel the lies, their fires.
Is there a higher reason,
We should live by their laws?
Call the swarm,
Feed them another false hope.

We're not even trying,
To ignite life's dream,
Let this light explode.
We're not even trying,
Find the exit sign and disappear.

We're not even trying,
To ignite life's dream,
Let this light explode.
We're not even trying,
Find the exit sign and disappear.

As for the meaning of this song, I think it's about facing up to the truth and acknowledging that there is more to life than what we currently live for and that we're not really putting any effort into making the most of it. Great song and so is the rest of the single!

Scar Symmetry – The Kaleidoscope God Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is amazing! Seven minutes of audio perfection! There's so much going on this song and the guitars are technically amazing! As for the meaning, I think it's about a supreme being like a God who has total control of the universe...like anything he thinks happens.

Scar Symmetry – Hybrid Cult Lyrics 18 years ago
According to an interview with Henrik this song is about the idea of a secret "clean" bloodline that can be traced through the generations of man that have infiltrated highest positions of authority. Interesting!

Scar Symmetry – Detach From The Outcome Lyrics 18 years ago
Actually I think this describes the drug DMT...apparently McKenna used this and saw several "visions." I'm not sure of the details but I think SS are McKenna fans!

Scar Symmetry – Calculate The Apocalypse Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is similar to 2012 in meaning. It describes the idea of apocalyptical events and the end of mankind! I like the line "tragedy mixed with relief." As if it would somehow bring peace to the world.

Scar Symmetry – 2012 - The Demise of the Sun Lyrics 18 years ago
This song refers to all of the theories that surround the year 2012 and there are many out there not just McKenna's Novelty theory...although some of them are skeptical they are interesting to read. Particularly when NASA have confirmed that the sun changes it's poles in 2012...very interesting!

Scar Symmetry – Veil of Illusions Lyrics 18 years ago
Apparently it's about quantum physics and the question of "reality" - just read an interview with whoever wrote the lyrics...I think it was Henrik.

Scar Symmetry – Chaosweaver Lyrics 18 years ago
Amazing intro as mentioned! Great way to start a great album! It seems to be about defying something evil and using it to fuel you. To me it's talking about religion..."I find destiny in the certainty of death" may be going against the idea of heaven or an afterlife. The mention of the "poisonous wine" is the most obvious hint to me though.

Probably about wanting something you can never have...maybe a girl in this case.

Scar Symmetry – Dominion Lyrics 19 years ago
Great song! I think it's about how Alvestam has endured so much pain in his life and now wishes to hide away from the world. It also seems like he turns to alcohol - the liquid cancer. It's an amazing song anyway, these guys are so talented.

The instrumentals at the beginning of this song sound so amazing that he almost spoils the song when he starts singing. Has to be one of the best intros to a song I think I've ever heard.

Scar Symmetry – Carved In Stone Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is exploring the idea that what we think we see is just a perception. We can't prove for certain that anything is how we see it is because everything we see is just a perception formed from our own thoughts and feelings which are passed on through "DNA and Society." In this song I think the writer is saying how human thoughts negatively affect our perception of the world - "losing its true form to human misery." The line about a swarming pattern of frequencies reminds of somewhat of the matrix...what if our world was just a matrix...how do we know it isnt? Maybe everything you see is just an illusion...reality is just a point of view after all!

Just to quote something from Ghost in the Shell:

"...And can you offer me proof of your existence? How can you when neither modern science nor philosophy can even explain what life is?"

Thought-provoking stuff! It's nice to hear music that makes you think!

Scar Symmetry – Detach From The Outcome Lyrics 19 years ago
Is it just me or does this song remind anyone else of sex or something of the like? If you read the lyrics with that thought in mind it's quite interesting...especially the "Third eye opening" line...or am I just dirty minded :P!?

Scar Symmetry – Deviate From The Form Lyrics 19 years ago
About breaking away from traditions and norms and becoming something different and in some way better...I guess he could be talking about not conforming to society's (sub)standards! Great song either way :)

Scar Symmetry – Abstracted Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is about the Travis Walton Abduction (1975). Apparently this guy was abducted by aliens and was missing for five days before reappearing. This seems to fit the lyrics...they sound like an alien abduction to me anyway :s!

You can read more about the Travis Walton case if you look it up on Wikipedia :) Decide for yourself...

Scar Symmetry – Orchestrate The Infinite Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is talking about conscience or something like that within the mind. I guess the part that gives it away for me...

In the silence existing
Between your every thoughts
This is where I'll meet you

Conscience seems to appear in the silence between your thoughts etc. The rest of the lyrics seem to fit this too...

But those who live within this world
Find ways to label me
Godhood or devilry

Conscience is labelled as 'God' where it tells you to do something good and is also labelled as the 'Devil' where it tells you to do something bad...kinda ironic when you think about it!

Anyway it's a great song and is really thought-provoking like most of the songs from Scar Symmetry.

Amazing song! I love every part of it from the driving guitars behind the verses to the ghostly chorus! Lyrics are pretty interesting too...I guess it's questioning reality. I think this is one of the best off Symmetric in Design.

In Flames – Dead God In Me Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with Rymon. There are a few sexual innuendos in there and it definitely sounds like child abuse - "the worms still in me, still a part of me."

Also the child crying at the end of the song might suggest this.

Scar Symmetry – Slaves To The Subliminal Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a great song! It's a pretty self-explanatory one I think. Mainly about some higher power that has control over us..."draining dry the very the mind" and basically doing what they want us to do. Hence "Slaves to the Subliminal."

Scar Symmetry – The Illusionist Lyrics 19 years ago
Awesome song! Scar Symmetry have huge potential so if you haven't already check out their album!

To me, this about religion. It sounds like a twisted version of Jesus' story where he is mocking those who believe in him. This is shown in the chorus. There are a few references in there that suggest this is Jesus' 'alternative' point of view. For example, in the first line he says about being an "outcast." Jesus was outcasted by the majority of society in his time. "Made an oracle against my will..." people saw the "saviour" in him...but apparently this wasn't intended. There's also a hint in "miraculous skills," "desert sands"etc. There's clues everywhere in there really.

I think it's a really clever idea and definitely encourages people to be their own "avatars" and have faith in yourself not in some god.

Thanks for the correct lyrics RagingLunatix :) They do make a lot more sense. I thought the guessed lyrics were powerful but this stuff is just amazing. Listening to the lyrics, what Lord_Hypnos said about reaching God seems to make a lot of sense. Although I don't think it has anything to do with In Flames' religion or beliefs, it's almost as if they are questioning God and all the people that believe in a God, but where is he now? Eventually he decides its for him to decide. I hope that makes some sense! But it's an amazing song anyway!

In Flames – Suburban Me Lyrics 20 years ago
First off I would like to say that this is an amazing song! I am in awe of those guitars! This is probably my fav song off Clayman. That guitar solo in the middle is just spine tingling...

I think the meaning is pretty straightforward. It's about being tied down by society. Anders is feeling a harsh clash between what he wants to be and what society allows him to be, almost like a reality check. From what I can tell, Anders aspires to be someone at peace with the world ("The pilgrim that is me"). I did hear from someone on these boards that Anders is a wannabe Buddhist. This could explain the pilgrim part but it doesn't really matter too much. However he knows "he ain't that free." He is held down by society and is forced to be part of something he doesn't want to be ("The suburban that is me").

That's my take on it anyway :)

In Flames – Versus Terminus Lyrics 20 years ago
Forgot to add...Versus Terminus is Latin I believe. In English it translates to 'Against the End' or something along those lines, 'the end' meaning the end of life or the world which is a theme expressed in many of the songs on the album particularly Dead End.

Suprised to see there weren't any lyrics posted to this song yet...these are them as far as I can tell but corrections are more than welcome.

I'm not too sure about the meaning of the song...but it's definitely a great song as is the whole of the new album.

In Flames – Versus Terminus Lyrics 20 years ago
Very powerful song. I think he's saying that eventually we will all realise the mistakes we made in the world...but by that time it may be too late. I think the first verse pretty much sums up the meaning of the song.

It's a great song, as is every song on the album.
