| Bouncing Souls – Kate Is Great Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
ok... first off there's no way this is emo. And its definately not "the story of punk" either. Not unless you consider the Bouncing Souls the whole punk scene. The songs basically about their way to becoming the band they are today. the Souls traded in their "home with a room and a bed, a porch and a driveway and a big garage" where they grew up and used to live to run down apartments and sketchy places in the heart of the ghetto. Over time (After 174 Commercial Ave if I remember right... correct me if I'm wrong) they were basically living in their van, with no real place to stay. Thats when one of them (can't remember which one right now... but I'm thinking it was Bryan) got a job at a Fouton shop. The owner, Kate, offered to let them stay at the shop rather than sleeping in their van. So they would sleep on the foutons and would often wake up to people staring at them throgh the windows of the shop as they explained in "Do You Remember?". So basically, Kate was a huge part of the Souls after 174... and they wrote this song. That's basically the story behind Kate is Great. If you've seen the Bouncing Souls' video "Do you Remember?", you should know all about this. So yeah... Kate is Great, cuz without her there might not be the Bouncing Souls. |

| The Suicide Machines – Bottomed Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow... this song is awesome. Its great to listen to when you're totally pissed off or just in a shitty mood... especially the intro. The whole album kicks ass, I think I prefer the new Suicide Machines style over their old ska-punk. | |
| Yo La Tengo – The Whole Of The Law Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok... I've never even heard of Yo La Tengo, but I know for sure that this song is by The Only Ones. Did they make a cover of this or something? | |
| Metallica – Stone Dead Forever (Motörhead cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Metallica made a cover of this? Thats awesome... I wanna hear it now. The original version on Bomber kicked ass. | |
| Bouncing Souls – Bryan's Lament Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Damn, this is such a good song, one of those that will always stay in your head and will never get old. I actually have a hard time deciding whether this is a love song or breakup song. In my opinion, I think it could be either one, and of course I would rather have it be on the positive aspect of feelings toward someone. The lyrics are debatable, and the only thing that suggests that it's about a breakup is the name "Bryan's LAMENT", which by definition would be an expression of grief or regret. On the other side of things, I'd say he's explaining how he's just constantly thinking about this girl, she's stuck in his head. Regardless of what he does, he just can't get her out of his head. Then the chorus, that this girl is so beautiful, and regardless of the situation, she cheers him up when he's feeling down, either by thoughts or physically, and that each moment without her is a moment he wishes she was by his side. "I drown myself ten feet deep tonight Remembering things we said" Probably the only debatable line in the song in my opinion (minus the talking at the end). Keeping it positive, basically they've said so much that he could "drown himself" in all of their exchanged words, or it could be feelings I guess. To keep this short, I'm not going to go into the other aspect of what this could be, but just think about it and you'll see (if you don't already). So anyways... this song is totally awesome and it got a lot of my friends hooked on the Bouncing Souls as well. Just one of those songs that makes you think about a special someone and you immediately develop a liking to the song/band. |

| Cockney Rejects – Oi Oi Oi Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"I thought the Sex Pistols did this song???????" Some dumbass on WinMX thought that too. Its by the Cockney Rejects, but I can see how someone can get the two confused. Both old school punk with british accents. |

| The Only Ones – Another Girl, Another Planet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Sucks that the song turns out to be about heroin... but it's still got one of my favorite guitar solos in it. And why is this the only song from The Only Ones on the site? Such a good band deserves more than this. | |
| Bad Religion – Time and Disregard Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Jakebert, actually, if you listen to their first album "Into the Unknown", Time and Disregard doesn't vary much from their old style. I remember listening to Time and Disregard in the car on repeat when I was about 4 years old, but never knew who sung it until I got the Into the Unknown album and heard it, and it's still as good as it was as a young kid, and I still play it on repeat once in a while... Anyways, its possibly one of my favorite Bad Religion songs, and its obviously about the destruction of forests and wooded areas for the construction of new homes and buildings. | |
