Blue October – Inner Glow Lyrics 17 years ago
Such a good song, great lyrics, beat tune.

I think basically the song is conveying that you are in charge of your own life, you choose what happens. A lot of people base their happiness on others, and just go along with the crowd. You don't need to fit into a certain label.

Write your own song, you're writing the story of your life, and it'll turn out however you want it to.

Oh and question: Any theories on the "like she's born in black and white" verse?

Well when I initially heard the song I thought it was about seeing someone that has a positive influence on others and having the desire to do the same thing.

Everything around her is a silver pool of life, people feel the benefit of it.

Sounds to me as though this girl is a happy person, and makes other people feel good about themselves and life in general. It doesn't have to be literal. I feel like in the song she is realizing that that is the type of person she wants to be, I know personally listening to the song it makes me want to have a silver pool of light around me. It actually reminded me of a girl I went to high school with that everyone liked, and we'd all love to be like her.

As for the "I think she's coming out of the closet" arguments, I can see where you're coming from, but I think you are neglecting the fact that you can call another person beautiful and look up to them without being sexually attracted to them.

Harry Chapin – Cat's in the Cradle Lyrics 20 years ago
Well maybe just because I'm an optimist I never saw this like everyone else. I saw it as even though the father was never there as often as he wanted to be for his son that he still obviously had an impact on his life because his son wanted to be like him.

He was saying it from a young age and I can't see a ten year old or any young kid saying to his father that he would be like him in the sense that his father wasn't present enough so he would be like that to his kids too.

I always looked at it as more of a pride that the son wanted to be like his father, rather than a dissapointment, and to me it was like the father was proud. But that's me.

Mustard Plug – The Freshman Lyrics 20 years ago
Hey, anyone have any theories on the shoe full of rice deal?

I think it's just about the abortion and how the kids had to cope with it, I don't really see the suicide part, I just see the girl getting pregnant, and none of them really know how to deal with it, so they got an abortion and then delt with it afterwards.

Morningwood – Nth Degree Lyrics 20 years ago
I don't think they'd create a pointless song, I think the part "Our love is to the nth degree" may mean something along the lines of their love is never ending. I've heard people say stuff to the Nth degree is also an unknown point of time or something.
