when i heard this song i really loved it, and it's only recently that ive actually listened to the lyrics and wondered about the meaning. and then i noticed songmeanings didnt even have the lyrics! Oh yeah, oh yeah, I’ve fallen down But I can get up Everyone in this fucking town Can get their back up Oh yeah you call yourself my friend Your back is breaking Why don’t we find out in the end What’s for the taking now to me the song sounds like theres been a confrontation (im guessing the girl came out of the closert because the band [or the majority of them? i dont know] are lesbians) and then entire town is kind of iffy about it. She's fallen down because the town and her fam doesnt accept her, but shes sticking to her descision and she can get back up. She says 'Oh yeah you call yourself my friend / Your back is breaking' which i took to be like..she admited her secret and her friend doesn't have her back, shes shunned her like the rest of the town. 'He’s not listening, he’s not listening If he listened to your heart, he’d hear you saying I want, I want, I want my baby I want, I want, I want my baby I want, I want, I want my baby back ' then i think its the girl talking to her partner, who might be in a relationship and came out as a lesbian and the guy doesnt want to hear about it. and if he really listened to her he'd know she just wants to be with the girl and be happy. 'Oh yeah, oh yeah, I’ve fallen down There’s no use faking And everyone in this old town Can hear me raging Oh yeah, you call yourself my friend Don’t get your back up I guess we’ll find out in the end Who’s the real bastard ' shes fallen down, like i said before and she's not going to hide her secret or her struggle. and everyone in the town is going to hear about it and she won't be unheard. then she repeats pretty much what i explained above and it repeats thats just my view..any thoughts? |

kay so i rwad the two pages of comments and got bored so this is what im thyinking someone said it was perhaps about esctasy 'gold lion' which would make the part Tell me what you saw There was a crowd of seeds Inside Outside I must of done a dozen each It was the height I grew there was a crowd of seeds (so many pills, or tabs whatever) i must have done a dozen each it was the height i grew describing taking the drugs and the feelings or the seeds could refer to money and gambling like others said, using each game about a dosen times and feeling high from winning |

just a thought 'Everybody knows you're the one to call When the girls get ugly round the back of the wall' maybe its talking about how when everyone sobers up, you know how everyone looks better when your a little drunk, the girls 'get ugly', meaning the drugs have worn up and you see what they really look like, stating another time that 'flathead' is the one to get the drugs from when theyre starting to wear off i still think flathead is male sorry my sentences suck, im not reading, just typing as i think it out and i need to sleep |

Thanks Truerock, I just have a couple things I interpreted differently 'I heard they kicked the boy till he bled then stood and said oh my god till she said' I took that literally, like yranigami the whole 'Bara bap bara ra ra ra bara bap bara ra ra ra......' doesnt sound sexual to me at all, just the way they sing it its more like a melody to fill in the gap between the verses, maybe they meant whatever she said not to be heard, or its not important I thought that the 'they don't come much more slick' reffered to flathead, and i also thought he was male because of the start of the song, it almost sounds like the singer is convincing 'flathead' nothing serious is going on with the girl (Doesn't mean she's got eyes for me/She might just want my bones you see) and then i think theres a confrentation 'said the boy's not right in the head so he stood and got a kicking instead till she said' and the girl comes to interven. Just my two cents |

kay i agree with KesterSmith, I think its about a girl that fucked one of them over. i agree with Jacdale8 but i also think this: she ran away/he tried to find her/whatever that bit, and he finds her in part of the circus. The audience is wathcing and enjoying the show but really, there is so much drama unfolding and they have to keep the act up, even though 'he' has found 'her' and she obv didnt wnat to be found. I think we can agree that the songs all follow a story, we intertwine is about the same girl/guy whatever and i don't think hes a stalker, he just loves her so much that its driving him crazy and he has very reckless actions because he wants her back. That explain the whole 'seraching her room and under the bed thing' Plus it sounds to me as though he was just in her room but then 'the passing of her scent' forced him to hide aka she was coming into the room and he obv didn't wnat to be caught..that would be creeper |

Alright, this song has been worked to death, EVERYONE has a different opinion okay? Even if Freddie wrote it to mean something, you can interpret it COMPLETLY differently than others. When I first heard this song, I agree with 'ephilbrook', about coming out of the closet, especially 'Mama just killed a man Put a gun against his head Pulled my trigger now he's dead' like, admitting it to his mother and 'Mama, life had just begun But now I've gone and thrown it all away' He has just gotten enough courage to tell someone (his mother, maybe again) and she is completly against it?
