Further to the above, which I agree with, I also wonder whether it was inspired by Liam's early morning runs in Hampstead Heath. |

Isn't this a Gem song? Saw an interview somewhere explaining that it's about a happy-go-lucky kind of guy that most people know but that doesn't often get celebrated. The kind of person who gets people up when they're down, distracts them from their worries etc, clearly through the medium of a day or night on the town... |

Yeah, it's not written by Liam so the breakup song theory is a good one, and probably correct to be honest.
How about this theory though:
Andy feels caught in the middle by the split in the group (don't really know what I'm feeling..)
The first verse is written from Liam's prespective giving his take on the situation (he mentioned many times over the years the frustration he felt between albums when he wanted to get back on the road but Noel wanted to chill out - "it's about time that your mind took a holiday etc".
Then we get a reply from Noel's perspective - "it's not what you want, it might be what you need" etc. |

I think the "shallowness" of the lyrics are kinda appropriate as it is clearly about childhood love - pick you up at half past three being a clear allusion to a school gate romance. In the same way as some people criticise Spaceman for being shallow - they miss the whole point, it is a song essentially about innocence, when nothing else really mattered. |

It is appropriate that Champagne Supernova and Morning Glory sit next to each other on the album and fade into one another - both are drug songs, both about Cocaine (Champagne/Cocaine). Ditto the references to the mirror and the razorblade in Morning Glory. |

This song is actually written by Gem Archer, not Noel. I like its optimism. For me it is the best song on the album, very Beatles... |
