| Minus the Bear – Dr. L'ling Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's "makes prose from poetry and it don't mean much" |
| Circle Takes the Square – A Crater to Cough In Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the melody of this songs main guitar part is also the same as the whistling at the beginning of the album. Just felt like throwing that in there, although it seems obvious, what with their explanation of the album: "the wanderer ends up in the same place he or she began", so does the album. | |
| Radiohead – Climbing Up the Walls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song reminds me very much of At The Drive-In's Metronome Arthritis, and for those looking for something similar that's the first place I'd go. Both are just so sinister and introspective, from the view of a killer, feelings of guilt and paranoia preside over it, but still manage to have a very sexy feel to them. I love it. |
| Fear Before – Dog Sized Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| reminds me alot of These Arms Are Snakes' Gadget Arms. In fact a lot of their new sound seems somewhat influenced by them as they had recently toured together, but I can't really argue with hat I love TAAS. | |
| The PAper ChAse – You're One of Them, Aren't You? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
another Smiths reference (Suffer Little Children) this in addition to the "You are sleeping, You do not want to believe" in We Will Make.. I wonder why? |
| The Snake the Cross the Crown – The Fields of Ius Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the vocals on this song are amazing, seems like he conjures Jeff Buckley for it, craziness. | |
| These Arms Are Snakes – Idaho Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is my favorite song by them, it is amazing. | |
| The Dismemberment Plan – The City Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"This song pretty much describes exactly where I am in life right now." amen. |
| Xiu Xiu – Suha Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is absolutely heart wrenching. | |
| Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Hung Over As the Queen in Maida Vale Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I would love to hear the rest of this, I guess you'd call it a sermon. | |
| Xiu Xiu – Hives Hives Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The A-I-D-S part is so catchy actually, I catch myself singing it, which I'd imagine is rather intentional. This song is really great. |
| Cursive – Into the Fold Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah Dos is a really trendy thing to read nowadays as well, so it is just that. The first interpretation I made was based on a line I messed up. This is still my favorite song off this album, and one of my favorite Cursive tracks period. |
| Joy Division – Twenty Four Hours Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is so sad to me. :( | |
| Q And Not U – Kiss Distinctly American Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lol, ahh I didn't think about the white at all. Yeah it's about how his girlfriend is catholic and he doesn't get any, none at all, just a handshake and then it's good night, the I suppose he has to resort to painting the house ghost white, which I suppose would a be slightly translucent white. haha I love how unenthusiastic he sounds. Very appropriate. |
| Murder by Death – Those Who Left Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'd go with it has to do with the Rapture actually. Those Who Stayed, and the following songs are about those people that were left behind in the Rapture, and Those Who Left, are those taken up into heaven. Intergalactic Menopause is what leads me to believe this, as they were the only one's left on the ground, teh rest were soring through the sky etc. etc. I listen to alot of Instrumental music, and this is still one of the most amazing pieces I've heard. At shows now they play a sort of Those Who Stayed/Those Who Left hybrid, heavy on the Those Who Stayed, I really wish they'd get a touring keyboardist. |
| Kiss Kiss – Stay the Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
here are the lyrics: Sweat on the angels Led to the fire A beautiful place indeed Cross in the wood that shed tears of liars Magnificent time to lead But stay the day I want the sun A close embrace Draws two to none But I feel it ending In a bright starry gaze It's all my fault Gravity just stopped And we all just floated away It's all my fault Gravity just stopped |
| Kiss Kiss – Shits in Suits Lyrics | 19 years ago |
haha great message. This song is called Dress Up on teh record though even though it's been known as Shits In Suits for so long, I guess the Shits in Suits didn't want shits in the title lol. |
| Kiss Kiss – Machines Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is the first single for RvO. and it is awesome. not sure what it's about though. |
| Kiss Kiss – Stay the Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| What a beautiful ending. | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Divine Intervention (Demo) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
well this is better than Divine Intervention. Which isn't a hard thing to do. Basically this is a totally differnet song besides the vocal melody |
| Cursive – There's a Coldest Day in Every Year Lyrics | 19 years ago |
These words aren't that pretty they don't need pretty music I've had this for so long but now it's really hitting home. the music could be better. but the way the words are said is all you really need. it's so despondent and lifeless. love this song |

A-mazing. Reminds me of Where the Circle Ends by Thursday and I just love spoken word stuff like this. |
| Brand New – Sowing Season (Yeah) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's quite obviously Driving people. Look at it this way: Drinking AND Driving as in two seperate acts. He used to say drinking and to driving back in April. Anyway my lyrics are really close so just use those if you're not already. |
| Brand New – Sowing Season (Yeah) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
actually correcting myself it's "Time to get the seeds INTO the cold ground." |
| Brand New – Sowing Season (Yeah) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is what I got, they are way better than what is above me at least: ----------------------------------------------------- Was losing all my friends Was losing them to drinking and to driving Was losing all my friends and I got them back I am on the mend At least now I can say im trying And I hope you will forget the things I still lack Yeah Yeah Is it in you now? To bare to hear the truths that you were spoken Twisted up by knaves In a trap for fools Is it in you now? To watch the things you gave your life to broken You stoop and build them up with worn out tools Yeah (Chorus) Nothing gets so bad A whisper from your father couldn't fix it Your whispers like a bridge, he's a river span Take all that you have and turn it into something you were missing Somebody threw that brick And shattered all your plans Yeah (Chorus) Time to get the seeds and put them in the cold ground It takes a while to grow anything Before its coming to the end yeah Before you put my body in the cold ground, take some time to warm it with your hands Before it's coming to an end, yeah It's coming to an end Do you miss the blend Of colours she left in your black and white field Do you feel condemned just being there? I am not your friend I am just a man who knows how it feels I am not your friend I am not your lover I am not your family Yeah (Chorus) Time to get the seeds and put them in the cold ground It takes a while to grow anything Before its coming to the end yeah |
| At the Drive-In – Catacombs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Anyone know what the link to this song has to "This Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' by the Smiths? They used to sing the end of that song at the end of Catacombs live. "I've seen this happen in other peoples lives and now its happened in mine." |
| The Dismemberment Plan – The Jitters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Man I got the jitters. How depressing this song is. | |
| mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
P.S. I love how delicatly he writes about this subject, very subtle innuendo but never vulgar in the least. "the harder the rain the lower the flowers in the garden bed" She has been "rained on", deflowered, apparently very hard, that it has lowered her from God's grace, a flower weighed down so much by the "rain" that it perhaps can't even see the light of God anymore it is so low in the garden. It is proabbly this presence that is "the friend" she brought. Beautiful. |
| mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Sounds more like a bout with temptation. The whole thing is an extended metaphor The house although shakey was a house of God ("muttering a prayer"). This represents his faith in God. He met a girl. She was likely a poor influence, judging from the state of his faith in her presence(disrepair). He laid the foundation of this relationship in the traditional Christian way (the oats), but she wanted more, sinful behavior (judging from this song, sex out of wedlock) and she left him. This left him very troubled, and he couldn't stop thinking of her. He figures why would God want him to lose the girl and feel such pain so the house of God burns down, i.e. he loses faith. The Devil whispers if he succumbs to temptation and gives up God it won't be half as bad as losing the girl. The girl comes back as a test, she comes back as though she was interested in him because of the original thing they had(the oats), but she brought along "a Friend", this could be any number of things, Lust, sinful ways, impurity etc. i.e. she probably wanted to have sex, and wanted to in the first place. He doesn't give up his faith. He learns from this situation that there will always be people like this in his life and there will always be tempatation to overcome, "it never ends" The whole album appears to be a series of tests of faith, this one being temptation of Lust. |

| The Smiths – Frankly, Mr. Shankly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The band Cursive covered this song, they did a really good job if you ask me. | |
| Cursive – Frankly, Mr. Shankly (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is a really good cover, blows The Smiths out of the water if you ask me, and I like the smiths. | |

| mewithoutYou – O, Porcupine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
without a queen that locust swarm turned the ground to black descending like a shadowy tower on a fish's back and scattered the sticks who crawled like snakes in the sand as the red clay took the form of a lizard who rushed like a moth to the flame of my open hand [while, in my little world...] a speckled bird humbly inspired ran across the road when it could have flown and it made me smile at the water's edge, Babylon we laid down and slept as the river wept for you, O'Zion! the stones cry out, bells shake the sky all creation groans... SHHHH!!! listen to it! messes of men in farmer poverty; not much for monks but we pretend to be share a silent meal and a pot of chamomile gypsies like us should be stamped in solidarity I hold you in my fond but distant memory while for the Mother Hen to gather me who regretfully wrote, "you have a decent ear for notes but you can't yet appreciate harmony." O'porcupine perched low in the tree your eyes to mine: "you'd be well inclined not to mess with me." at the garden's edge beneath a speechless sky as his friends all slept Jesus wept - and no wonder and now you say you wanna be set free?? and wanna set me free?? well I'm told that can only come from a union with the One who never dies [while, in my little world, I patched a plaster wall and in my little world, I was waiting (just dying!) to take offence at something this is all there is in my sad little world] in darkness a light shines on you and me I never gathered figs from a thorny branch, I never picked a grapefruit off a bramble bush and for the past five - almost six years now! - you know you haven't once looked at me with kindness in your eyes you say Judas is a brother of mine? but sister in our darkness a light shines and all I ever want to say for the rest of my life is how that light is G-d, and though I've been mistaken on this or that point, that light is nevertheless G-d. |

| mewithoutYou – In a Market Dimly Lit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the bird that plucked the Olive Leaf has been circling like a record never-ending in my mind where the needle's worn the grooves too deep, and scratched the wax that's blistered from the heat besides so from any movement in the room - if my cat walked by the arm skipped! but to my surprise, my interrupting cat improved a sound already so severely compromised the needle's worn the grooves too deep I'm a donkey's jaw on a desert dune beside the bush that Moses saw that burned and yet was not consumed she's the silver coin I lost, I'm the sheep who slipped away we pray with fingers crossed but you listen patiently anyway I wrote a little song for you with a melody I'd borrowed put to words that didn't rhyme to repeat what you already knew as the stones thrown at your window tapped a syncopated time you kept a distance out of fear you'd break but what's good a single windchime, hanging quite all alone? the music our collisions would make is a sound that turns the road-that-leads-us-back-home into Home. the music our collisions make! I had a rusty spade but I'm not the fighting sort if I was Samson I'd have found that harlot's blade and cut my own hair short! then in a market dimly lit I come casually to pay you see my coins are counterfeit but accept them anyway so spare me your goodbyes, your waving-handkerchief-good-byes given my tendency to err so on the sentimental side I'll spare you my goodbyes, the truth belongs to G-d, the mistakes were mine |
| mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
our house wrapped in disrepair, a small mouse peeked out from a hole beneath the stairs nearby to where my dad sat in his favorite chair, thinking about the gov't and muttering a prayer so I scattered some oats in hopes she'd stay and sat still to stop from scaring her away - but she hurried on her little way and scurried around my mind ever since, every day open wide my door, my Lord to whatever makes me love You more I'm water, you're the dry wood equal parts misguided and misunderstood but all the neighborhood watched a fire burn from where they stood as the smoke said "we're not half as bad as G-d is good" still there's a whisper in my ear, the voice of loneliness and fear, so I say: "devil disappear! I'm still (ehh.. technically..) a virgin after 27 years - which never bothered my before, what's maybe 50 more?" she came back for the oats but she brought along a "friend" (this never ends) the harder the rain, the lower the flowers in the garden bend (this never ends) I'd rather never talk again than to continue to pretend that this never ends |

| mewithoutYou – Orange Spider Lyrics | 19 years ago |
a note we wrote the other day to any mice who pass this way on crumbed and sugared countertop: "we must insist your traffic STOP." in their defense, they don't refuse but nonetheless we've come to use snapping traps and poison beans (far less diplomatic means) orange spider, orange leaf, confirms my deepest held belief. |

| mewithoutYou – A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Lyrics | 19 years ago |
a cat came drifting onto my porch from the outside cold and with my eyes closed, drinking warm milk from my bowl, thought: "nobody hears me! I crept in so soft! and nobody sees me!" as I watched six steps off like the peacocks wandering the walkways of the zoo who have twice the autonomy the giraffes and the elephants do, saying: "no one can stop me, no one clips my claws! now everyone watch me scale these outside walls!" you took the pious and profane, turned around the praise and blame, said "a glass can only spill what it contains" To the perpetually plain and the incurably inane a glass can only spill what it contains what new mystery is this? what blessed backwardness? the Immeasurable One is held and does not resist! struck by wicked words and foolish fists of senseless men the Almighty One does not defend! I was halfway listening to what she thinks she knows We're like children dressing in our parents' clothes, saying: "Nobody knows me, no one knows my name, No, nobody knows me..." I half-heartedly explained but gave up peacefully ashamed as a glass can only spill what it contains we went to Portugal and Spain and in her mind the entire time it rained! a glass can only spill what it contains what new mystery is this? in overflowing emptiness the Invisible is seen among the shadows and the mist, before my doubting eyes the Infinite appears in time - the Unquestionable is questioned but makes no reply! what new mystery is this?! "my Rabbi!" my lips betray with a kiss what new mystery is this? |

| mewithoutYou – The Dryness and the Rain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The Dryness and the Rain first came a strong wind, ripping off rooftops like bottlecaps and bending lampposts down to the ground then came a thunder shattering my windows but you were not that strong wind or that mighty sound that left the barn in shambles, the rabbit hutch in ruins the split-rail fence splintered and the curtains torn, all the cows out from the pastures trampling on the pumpkins and the horses from their stables ambling in the corn Isa ruhu-lah 'alaihis-salat was-salam I've flown unnoticed just behind you like an insect and I've watched you like a falcon from a distance as you passed then swooped down to be nearer to the traces of your footsteps to pick the fallen grain from the dirt beneath the crooked grass and I'm gonna take that grain and I'm gonna crush it all together into the flour of a bread as small and simple and sincere as when the dryness and the rain finally drink from one another the gentle cup of mutual surrender tears A fish swims through the sea, while the sea is in a certain sense contained within the fish! Ah, what am I to think of what the writing of a thousand lifetimes could not explain if all the forest trees were pens and all the oceans ink? nastagh-firuka ya Hakam ya Jalali wal Ikram Isa ruhu-lah' alaihis salat was salam ya Halim, ya Qahhar ya Muntaqim, ya Ghaffar! la Illaha illallah, Allahu Akbar! |

| mewithoutYou – Messes of Men Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I do not exist," we faithfully insist sailing in our separate ships, and in each tiny caravel - tiring of trying, there's a necessary dying like the horseshoe crab in its proper season sheds its shell such distance from our friends, like a scratch across a lens, made everything look wrong from anywhere we stood and our paper blew away before we'd left the boy so half-blind we wrote these songs on sheets of salty wood you caught me making eyes at the other boatmen's wives and heard me laughing louder at the jokes told by their daughters I'd set my course for land, but you well understand it takes a steady hand to navigate adulterous waters the proppeller's spinning blades held acquaintance with the waves as there's mistakes I've made no rowing could outrun the cloth low on the mast like to say Ive got no past but I'm nonetheless the librarian and secretary's son with tarnish on my brass and mildew on my glass I'd never want someone so crass as to want someone like me but a few leagues off the shore, I bit a flashing lure and I assure you, it was not what it expected it to be! I still taste its kiss, that dull hook in my lip is a memory as useless as a rod without a reel to an anchor-ever-dropped-seasick-yet-still-docked captain spotted napping with his first mate at the wheel floating forgetfully along, with no need to be strong. we keep our confessions long and when we pray we keep it short I drank a thimbleful of fire and I'm not ever going back Oh, my G-d! "I do not exist," we faithfully insist while watching sink the heavy ship of everything we knew if ever you come near I'll hold up high a mirror Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as you |

| mewithoutYou – Dying Is Strange and Hard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| can't you like remove the Fixed from teh title it looks mega stupid, and there is no need for it at all. We're glad you fixed it that is all we need to know. | |
| mewithoutYou – Messes of Men Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No I'm pretty sure a thimble full of fire would be a shot glass full of hard liquor, considering he mentions mildew on his glass earlier. Of course we don't even know if that is the lyrics for sure yet. I kind of like your interpretation though, a thimble full of fire would be such a small volume, but even the smallest taste of hell would be enough to change his life. I can't pass judgement til we get the lyrics though. |

| mewithoutYou – Yellow Spider Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm not absolutely sre these lyrics are correct."we build her with" line specifically. anyway I'm not exactly sure but judging from all the referances to Gardening and plant life I would say the entire album catalogs a person who is losing their Faith in God because God has been vengeful (Messes of Men, Nice & Blue Part 2) for his evil deeds (adultery, gambling) but by the end of the story the character finds there is nothing left BUT to have faith(In a Sweater Poorly Knit) The Spider tracks are the order, as the plant(faith) is dying. I could be very wrong though I need to analyze all of the corrct lyrics, but that's my first impression. |
