2 obsessions has Martin Gore. Religion and sex. This is about sex. The 1st part is too clear. The man is takin a girl (?girl??) to fuck her. And he wants to take brutally all her clothes (let me see you stripped..) He just wants to fuck her. Then the songs turns a little strange. He talks about sex as something "natural" or "sane" or "freedom". he talks about pollution in city, etc, etc (breathin fumes), he says, just forget Metropolis , troubles, fumes, and the consumer society (make decisions without television). Forget "each anti natural thing", and lets have sex. |

Another atheistic song. Its a Gore seal man! Just like Blasphemous... I think this song is a kinda "Nietzschian" philosofy. Believe in your self, not in gods. The 1sts verses explains all song. Your own personal jesus (that god you carry inside you, YOURSELF) is the only whos gonna hear your prayers, the only one who cares about you, is you. I think most of you guys "you think so much", its not so difficult this song, and it doesnt have so much interpretations. This song is about DEAD. You know, "the killer", is "dead". Its just like in "Riders..." (the killer on the road, is dead -u know, that indian situation-). And all the song is about dead. Read again the song, and think about dead.. Guess this: "what kinda man could think that his only friend is the end?" A man who wants to be dead. It all describes dead "No safety or surprise".. "can you picture... so limitless and free". Dead. (that "state of nothing")... But u know what? Jim didnt see dead as pain or sorrow. He thought about dead as a freedom state (all of u doors lovers know that) he talks about dead and says "theres no pain when u die, everythings over, no sorrow, no pain, freedom). In every part of the song youll find that is about Dead. The intro is about dead just i said The second part ("lost in a roman...). hes just describing life (to his eyes). U know, "chaos and disorder", the evil thing (the snake, 7 -biblic number-). Hes just describing life as chaos and disorder. And then, in the killer part. He just mentions Oedipus. but its not about the complex. you know, Oedipus complex is not about "getin laid with your mum" or killin your dad.
