Imogen Heap – Just for Now Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh, and it's "muffle the smoke alarm," instead of "might fool".

Panic! at the Disco – Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off Lyrics 20 years ago
What the fuck? This song was never that great. It's okay, but scene kids completely killed it on myspace and Xanga. Basically, I'd just like to say that P!atD has OTHER SONGS.
It's crazy, I know.

Placebo – Teenage Angst Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is pretty much the story of my life. If you take it literally, it's just about angst...I am an expert on angst. However, if you think of it as Brian being sarcastic, well, I can respect that. I'm totallt aware that i have insignificant problems. I'm actually full of shit, admittedly.

Placebo – Nancy Boy Lyrics 20 years ago
I have some crazy obsession with this song. I honestly couldn't say why. One day I was listening to the album...this song stood out. I could listen to it for hours. I have in the past, actually.

Placebo – Hang On To Your IQ Lyrics 20 years ago
Solarplexis is one word; it's a body part. And I'm pretty sure it's locket instead of rocket.
This song has always made me think of 'the dangers of substance abuse' or something.
As in, "Don't do drugs or you will end up singing about your small penis."
Well, there are also some pretty explicit sexual references...

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 20 years ago
P.S. "Moonlighting" is what the husband is doing. It means cheating. "Moonlighting aside, she really needs his money" is referring to the wife who, though she is aware that her husband is cheating, she will not leave him because he's rich. Again, it's the "nothing is sacred" theme.

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 20 years ago
"Purse of a different kind" is referring to drugs. She had drugs. The constable part has nothing to do with prostitution, it's drugs. Get it straight, kids.
"They ended up...well, making love isn't exactly what I'm looking for. But. You. Get. The. Picture." It's not anal sex, it's just saying that it was fucking, rather than 'making love'...with feeling.
Please, get off the hooker thing. She was just a girl who wanted to get a job.
And AaronBrown is stupid. The purse was a bag of coke, the girl wasn't actually a prostitute. And the song isn't about how the girl gets arrested at all, it's about how nothing is sacred. Hence the wife that will stay with the cheating attorney, accesorizing with a rosary, etc.
And the real lyrics are "taking best guesses", just to clear that up.

Motion City Soundtrack – Together We'll Ring in the New Year Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about how nothing changes. It's not completely apparent, but you can sort of see it.
First off, the whole New Year thing is representative of starting-over. But basically the song says that's bullshit. "But most of all I’m bored." "Why won’t you listen to me?" "I’m not trying to sound so insincere
But the postcard that’s taped the freezer reads:
Wish you were here." "Last chance for changing lanes and you missed it by a mile." Yeah, it's a rather melancholy thought, but I swear, the whole song is a rant about waiting for change that'll never come. He tells himself that things will be different, but they never change, and he's just sick of the same crap he's always put up with.
A good song for when you're feeling hopeless or bored out of your mind by your own life.
...trust me.

Mindless Self Indulgence – You'll Rebel to Anything (As Long as It's Not Challenging) Lyrics 20 years ago
Hah, it's making fun of mainstream emo music. Psh, duh. Props to Little Johnny...it needed to be said.

Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm being useless here, I'm really just talking about my feelings. Gosh, how cheesy.
I definitely think this song simply works. It definitely changes pace a lot, and has those points where its faster or louder, but only for a moment. It sends chills down your spine. And the way it kind of climaxes, it feels like yoou were taken higher and then left back where you were before the song started. It's crazy.
Soory about that entry. It was useless and corny, but I felt it needed to be said, psh.

Imogen Heap – Just for Now Lyrics 20 years ago
(There are a few corrections in the following lyrics.)

It's that time of year
Leave all our hopelessness’s aside
If just for now, it's just for a little while
Dear, stop right here
I know we've followed a bumpy ride.
I’m secretly on your side

She wants to be able to let go of the problems her family's had. The holidays can be hectic; she just wants to keep things civil.

How did you know?
It's what I always wanted
Could never have had too many of these
Will you quit kicking me under the table?
I'm trying, Will somebody make her shut up about it?
Can we settle down please?

Once again, with the remaining civil. She's just trying to be nice, but obviously her family begins to get on her nerves.

Bite tongue
Deep breaths
Count to ten
Nod your head

Still making an effort to not lose it completely.

I think something is burning
Now you've ruined the whole thing
Might fool the smoke alarm
Whoever put on this music?
Better quick sharp remove it
Pour me another
Oh, don't wag your finger at me

Here, you can see her losing hope...snapping at people, being angry. She just wants out.

Get me outta here (x13)
Just for now
Just for now

See? She explicitly says she wants out. "Just for now" seems more like reassurance that it'll all be over soon than encouragement to get along with her family by the end of the song.
Love this song. She's got a gorgeous voice. It's rare that you'll find personality in electronica, but Imogen manages. You have to respect that. She's very listenable.
