An interesting point there. Not many people know that Frank (and Ben) went to Eton (!), so maybe this is Frank's way of saying he has a right not to live up to expectations. The line "Tonight Matthew, I will be a debutante" may well be a riposte to those who expected him to do well at Eton (as opposed to forming a kickarse band) :) |

From what I've heard, this one's about the French resistance movement in the first world war, and the collapse of the Maginot line (a line of defence that the French built the wrong way prior to being massacred by Nazi forces. Hence the chorus. |

Nice idea. My interpretation is of how the Roman Empire grew and eventually collapsed, and is urging our society not to make the same mistakes. See "lets make this stage our rubicon", and the references to Byzantium and Constantinople. |
