Wow, I "love" some of the comments made by people at the begining. Though they are fairly creative and what not, they are wrong. This song was evidently writen as a jab/tribute to the gothic subculture and in particular the gothic girl. |

This song means so much to me because it is not just symbolic of the relationship I was just in. Basically, my boyfriend was really into me, but I am emotionally unavailable and just completely suicidal and depressed and it hurt him so much that I couldn't stand myself and that I cut myself. And basically the whole song is literally how I felt then and feel now about that relationship. I could never not hurt him because I would push him away so that I wouldn't hurt him, but that hurt him and then I would hurt him by hating myself. And basically I just wished that he would just leave me so that I could stop hurting him. And then he did and he is very happy now. And even the phone call at the begining of the track is like the conversations we would have the day after I would tell him good bye or I would sound empty on the phone. This is the song of my relationship and it makes me so depressed to hear it sometimes, but I love to hear it. That is what this song means to me. |

this song is about suicide and depression and the state of mind you are in when you become suicidal. and as a question why do people seem to associate suicide with sin or being sinful. if some one is that depressed that they try to kill themselves they obviously no longer see anything good in the world and their life and feel they have nothing to live for. when things are that painful, death becomes a release from everything, from every crushing moment |

i personally don't know the exact meaning of this song, but i will point out that the classic interpurtation of "under the rose" is that all words spoken, things done or found under a rose are secret and the hanging of a rose informs others of a wish for privacy or secrecy |

okay, all i have to say is that it's great that people can relate to a song absolutely wonderful really, the only thing is that Linkin Park is VERY straight forward which is both a blessing and a curse. it allows for people to have imediate acess to what the song is about, the problem, there is basically only one very basic idea to the song, only one interpretation and applys only to one general problem or idea, if the song had more depth, more obsure lyrics or metaphors or something, anything, it could and likely would be applied to a multitude of problems or ideas. though i will say that this particular problem of not living up to someone's expectations is one that most people will experience in their lives, if they haven't already.

i agree about Canadian radio and music....nothing good here....just Simple Plan and other fags....though i can't say that the states's taste in music is any better \.....definately not fond of pop trailer trash, AFI or the Used...sorry just my opinion |
