| Mindless Self Indulgence – You'll Rebel to Anything (As Long as It's Not Challenging) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

You know, I find it funny that some people find songs like this offensive. Especially since, when I fist heard this song (and instantly feel in love with it and the band) I was a cutter at the time. Maybe it doesn't really count because the song suggests people who THREATEN to hurt or kill themselves, when I was hurting myself and hiding it for everyone. Well, it's a grey area, I suppose. But it's interesting to note that people are often offended on behalf of others, when those in question don't feel offended at all. Anyway, the lyrics would definitely suggest it's about emos, but like shadowwiththeeyes said, it could just as easily be about any of the anti-conformist subcultures. Anyway, good song. |

| I thought that at first too, deppenpointe, but in an interview Kyo actually says he HATES Sid Vicious! XD Apparently he bought a book about Sid and Nancy cause he wanted to know what they were really like and stopped reading half way through because he thought they were so stupid! | |

I agree with RememberToBreathe "But waking up is harder when you wanna die" Is so...right. I wish I couldn't relate. |

~lu.with.motononia~, the booklet that comes with the CD has it written as "I wanna be an anarchist, too". Although it's true that with a Japanese accent that sort of thing happens. |

I love this song. I love the rap, "a clean right hand is your hand, gradually getting uglier" ect. IMO it's very well written. Also when I was listening to the lyrics I noticed something. First time the chorus is sung Kyo sings "hane ga haete yuku psycho no yoru" which means "the psycho night when wings develop" - "hane" meaning "wings". However the second time it is sung he sings "kimi ga haete..." - "kimi" means "you" - so he's saying "the psycho night when YOU develop". |

I think I know what this is about! :o Pair the lyrics and the verse from the booklet, which reads "You, now where are you My shadow is burned into the wall In this time traces of the battlefield will be left behind, perhaps You, now will become dust I, now will become ashes With a splinter of glass this child's figure A firefly lives short lily excited This evening black rain and red sky" A shadow burned into a wall? In Hiroshima isn't where a stair case with a "shadow" of a person who was caught in the blast of the bomb? Black rain? Didn't it rain black, radioactive rain after the bomb hit? Maybe the explosion is being compared to a firefly’s light. I think there is a woman in this song, too, and it talks of her reunion and a “you” who was on a battlefield and whatnot. Was the woman’s lover a pilot in the war? I don’t know, maybe I just completely misinterpreted this but after reading the verse the idea popped into my head. |

| Was he hungry when he wrote these lyrics? Or just on drugs? XD Love for Diru. | |

| I read somewhere that this is about a woman who desperately wants a child so she takes a man home for a night of wild sex. And some of the song is a narration while they're at it and she's trying to get him to work harder so there is more of a chance she'll get pregnant. Like, "deeper still show me your best". It's a dirty song about a crazy woman. ^^ | |

I think it's about a guy who's had a past with an extreme S'n'M fetish and has fallen in love or is at least trying to have a normal romantic relationship. It would explain the "let's begin this platonically" and "Saying farewell in this evening before the apples and strawberries go rotten" Perhaps the apples and strawberries going rotten is a metaphor for his thoughts and actions turning to sadomasochistic sex, like he thinks it’s disgusting even though he likes it? At least that's the impression I get, I might be wrong. :p |
