First of all, do your research. The guitar line was changed to the sing-song crap they use because they couldn't play it. That comes straight from interviews with Relient K, I'm not just making guesses. Secondly, the use of this music as a "witnessing tool" is blasphemous. Why don't you read your bible before you go thumping it. The only thing the bible allows you to use as a "witnessing tool" are things that pertain to the purposed teachings of christ in the new testameant and the laws of the old testament. Not only that, this song is "sinful" and blasphemous. Judging is the right of the god of the bible, according to the bible. This song serves the purpose of judging Marilyn Manson and the culture associated with him. By taking the exclusive right of the bible's god, Relient K is setting themselves up as a false idol to both themselves and their fans. Again, try reading that dusty old bible. I did, front to back. And doing that alone convinced me of the virtues of atheism. And about your last comment: songmeanings.net is not a fucking church, it is a place for discussion about music for all those that are interested. This is the perfect place to discuss our opinions about christian music and christian bands. Also, Marilyn Manson's song discussion pages have christians bashing him, so don't get all high and mighty, you fucking hypocrites |

Johnny Cash's version is definatley not better. Number one, a song's meaning can only be defined by who wrote it. Only they can truly portray the emotion set forth in the lyrics, because they are the ones that felt them. Secondly, Cash's version lacks the instrumental depth that NIN's has. The simple melody put over the synthetic textures protrays the sense of emptiness and giving up that the lyrics portray. The simple guitar of Cash's version basically is a simpler version for a song that requires more to it. Also, The lyrics don't portray Johnny's life very well. That just diminishes the meaning more.
Also, this is not a very good cover. Good covers should at least be of songs the artist likes. Cash first heard this song the day he started re-arranging it. He shouldn't have done the covers he did for his last album. His cover of personal jesus is even worse, because something tells me he didn't know that the song is about booty calls. Anyway, I love Cash, and like his version of this song, but it really isn't that great. But hey, we can all agree it's better than Sevendust's. The singer couldn't even remember the lyrics. |

this song is a great deconstructed song in the vien of the still album. The great news is that there will be an entire album of songs like this. Trent Reznor is going to release a solo album, with nothing but piano and synth effects. I know, Nine Inch Nails is basicall a Trent Reznor solo project, but the difference lies in that NIN is meant for a band to play, while his solo album will be just him and a piano and synth effects.
On a seperate note, there will be no remix disc, like further down the spiral or things falling apart, for with teeth. But, there will be a new album before the end of 2007. It will contain a few new songs and leftovers from with teeth. This song will not be on it, because it is part of his impending solo work. |

Marilyn manson does do a lot for money. But, if you listen to the stuff he did before being signed, it carries the same types of messages, with less hype.
Also, it is a stretch to call this a good song. It is one thing to say you like it, but it is impossible to deny that it lacks musicle quality. A simple three chord progression. Not original or talented either. Also, the opening chord is an interpolation of a guitar line from manson's version of "sweet dreams." Relient K had to simplify the guitar line because they couldn't play it. No matter how much people like this song, it is still not very good musically. |

Interestin little fact about marilyn manson, the title Anti-Christ Superstar is not used to refer to manson as a satanic or religious figure of any kind. It refers to societies reaction to him. People see him as evil, despite the fact that they haven't taken the time to listen to him. It is used as a mockery of the ignorant people who called him the devils incarnate and who would later blame him for columbine(despite the fact that harris and klebold despised mansons music) He is just commenting on society's desire to label him and blame him. Also, the last line about beautiful people is a reference to manson's popular song. Ironic though. Relient K was too lazy and ignorant to find the actual meaning of the song. The would discover that the song is about people who judge outsiders and try to elevate themselves as better, in essence, people who write songs like this garbage. Relient K should take time to read the bible, you know that whole thing about judgement and whatnot. Retarded christians are so funny. Piece of advice, take time to listen to manson, specifically holywood. The album is about columbine and christians role in society and violence. It is done artistically and intelligently. A lot more intelligent than Relient K's pathetic attempt at blaming manson for peoples lifestyle.
People who really get into manson tend to have a lot of complicated things going on in their life, and manson provides an escape from that. Not everyone's life can be as great as Relient K's |
