Janis Joplin – Get It While You Can Lyrics 18 years ago
who cares whether it was about sex or love! i think she means that life is short so hold on to anybody you can for as long as you can. if you can't count on anybody then life is just a series of moments - take advantage of it!

Pedro the Lion – Eye on the Finish Line Lyrics 19 years ago
Without having heard the whole album, and with little idea of any intended meaning for this song, I just hear the sad rendition of some sort of sacrifice - especially with lines like "Though I've been striving for their good, I will be misunderstood". I can't see the part where the narrator killed his wife/lover, maybe she just got caught in the crossfire of something bigger than both of them...

Does anyone else see the love song aspect of this?

Vendetta Red – Por Vida Lyrics 19 years ago
I know the lyrics are pretty dark, but if you listen to the guitar part there's a real strength in it...a kind of 'fuck you, i'm gonna make it anyways'

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 19 years ago
It's still different though, good (don't get me wrong), but different. Catchier...it has a more lighthearted sound despite the material. And the he versus she thing's got me too...I don't really know all the conspiracy stuff so I can't really make a relevant comment on that. Does anyone who does have any comments?

I think this song is what summer sounds like.

Sigur Rós – Sæglópur Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is amazing...you really get the sense of travelling. Without looking at the english translation, I always got the sense of driving down a deserted highway at night with millions of stars overhead...kinda like a car commercial but with a little more depth attached.

Thrice – Between the End and Where We Lie Lyrics 20 years ago
Ok, what say we move away from the religious propoganda and look at this from a more philosophical point of view...

Does anybody see a relation to Plato's Allegory of the Cave?

"here all hopes and dreams are scavenged from the floor and fed into machines that feed on vacant eyes" - the protagonists of the story are strapped to chairs underground, all they can see are the shadows of representations made by the people running the place. These representations are generally what the people think those strapped to the chairs want to see, the point being that they are not real.

"then I could free myself and see the world outside where
daylight breaks on you and shines into the
grey that sleeps beneath your skull
daylight breaks on you burns away the
grey that suffocates your soul" - one person manages to free himself and see the world outside, his mind is opened and he acquires the ability to think for himself. Also the burning could be in reference to the fact that it takes a while for his eyes to adjust to the bright light of the sun.

"daylight, they tell me that it’s just a myth
daylight, they tell me that it can’t exist
they try to betray me with a kiss
they might never know just what they’ve missed as" - finally, the guy goes back underground and tries to tell all the other people still tied down what he has seen, but of course no one believes him because they are so thoroughly convinced that the shadows on the wall are the limits of reality.

I can see where God and Christianity fits in to a lot of lyrics from this album, but honestly, is it really necessary to reiterate the same thing in 20 different posts? Being Christian is fine and dandy, but allowing it to turn you into a robot is a major cop out.
