I always interpreted "your face has faded but lingers on Because light strikes a deal with each coming night" as dreams, even though the person is gone you still see them in your dreams. |

| Sparklehorse – More Yellow Birds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I know this is what a lot of people say abou Sparklehorse songs, but the most amazing thing about this song is the feeilng it gives you when you listen to it. It's slow, sad, mournful but beautiful--and although lines rhyme here and there, it's really a lot of observations and declarations. My favorite line is "please send more more yellow birds for the dim interior" and although I haven't found anywhere saying this is what it's about, my friend told me about how in asylums they wouldn't let people have pets because it wasn't safe (for the people, or the pets!) but they would let them have canarys. So it's kind of like a call for something, anything that might make you feel better even though everything around you is bad. I dunno what it is about this song, but it's amazing and it's my favorite Sparklehorse song, they really are an amazing band. |

| Modest Mouse – Dark Center of the Universe Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"Well it took a lot of work to be the ass that I am And I'm pretty damn sure that anyone can Easily, equally fuck ya over" It means, it's not that hard to be an asshole--anyone else could have easily screwed you over just as I did. |

| Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"I'd recomend it if you dont scare easily on trips. Remember, its just a drug even though the trips seem really really real" --764-mouser eeexactly! your description of the effects were exactly like mine, you do feel heavy and everything is weighted down (well except for my head which felt like it was floating!) and it does make you scared and freaked out, but you just have to keep telling yourself: this is because of the drug and just chill out and ride it out, it is pretty awesome and pretty terrible at the same time, it can be a good trip or it can be a bad trip (and when it's a bad trip, it's a baaad trip--as with any drug) i woke up in the middle of the night and i was laying on my pillow and i had my hand on the pillow and i was convinced that my pillow was a cat and i was petting it and stuff and then i freaked out, well, because there was a "cat" in my bed. |

| Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| all right, well i know stefanjoh commented a loong time ago, but I agree with him. I did Dramamine too (once again, i would NOT reccomend it) and it is like that, you can't focus on anything, for me it felt like my head was floating over my body and looking down on me (i was literally, high) I couldn't focus on anything, everything was different, like i looked at my speakers and i could SEE soundwaves---like it just leaves you so disjointed and this is exactly how this song is. | |
| Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I read in an interview that this song was a response to his friends who were all reading Bukowski at the time and thought he was really cool and, well, wanted to be like him! but he was reknowned for being a drunk and for being misogynistic and so he wrote this song in response to that, yeah "he's a pretty good read" buuuut "who would want to be such an asshole?" I think my favorite line is: if god takes life he's an indian giver hahahha that's awesome. |

| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Do you want to know what's funny? Everyone calls this song "soooo optimistic" and "soooo happy" and "sooo out of character" but do you want to know what he means when he says Float On? He means that our bodies float when we die... I heard an interview with him and that is how he explained this song, so it's not exactly as optimistic as people originally thought... but then again, I guess in a morbid way it is kind of optimistc... haha leave it to Modest Mouse to come up with something like that. :-p | |
| Modest Mouse – Grey Ice Water Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Now this may be completely off the wall but someone once told me that Isaac Brock once referred to milk as "grey ice water" haha, so I just thought I'd throw that out there... | |
