| Yeah, I agree with most of the meanings already posted. I also agree with you monkey. A lot of bands do like to give upbeat bands with sadder songs. Smashing pumpkins has mastered doing that and I love it. | I bought the t-shirt for this song before I even heard the song. It has the "I thank you for listening" lines on the back and that was the selling point to me. Then I found out there was an actual song for it and the song just struck home the instant I heard it. - As far as the meaning goes to me its some type of relationship, could be a couple or even just close friends that didn't quite click. He couldn't live with the other's pain. Yet, this person allowed him to tell them and explain to them how he feels and that he just couldn't live with the pain they are experiecing, and he thanks them for listening. He got to see how they are and how he is and says he is glad they let him experience it because he is happy to be himself again. | |

| Yeah, I agree, it is awesome. Pretty straight forward as the meaning goes. He feels he is going nowhere that his life will always be what it is now, nothing. He is confused in life and just can't get to where he is happy. The part that I really like the most is the last stanza, it takes a lot to know someone is there for you and to thank them when you feel like this. It really shows how much he has for him and how much he has tried to be happy and yet, has nothing so far. | |

| My take on this song is his life currently is shit, he is depressed, nothing is going his way. He has lost his hope, his faith, everything. Yet, he doesn't feel this is what life is. He knows there is more to it than what he has experienced and he wants to look on the bright side that there is more and that he needs to pick himself up and find this bright side of life. He wants to change his life so he can be "full again" not depressed and empty. | |

| I agree, this is an awesome song and I was instantly attached to it when I heard it. As for the meaning I see this as one of the "up" points of life. After you have been down in the dumps and you're it is finally coming around. The way he puts that "We all have pain, we all have suffered" it just makes me believe he is finally getting over pain, over suffering and he is realising that isn't how you should live life. There is always beauty even when things are at their worse and he now sees that and won't give up that he has been here, he has existed and to exist can be a beautiful thing. | |
