to me it almost seems like there's this girl he was semi dating and she seemed cool at first, but then she just wanted to rush into a relationship, and he didnt want that. like the first verse is saying that he wants prove that she even has love for him, or if she is just rushing into a relationship because she will be with anyone. the second verse really gave it away... like he takes her to his house to meet his mom, who "jumps the gun" by acting like this girl has been a part of the family for a long time or something, and the son is kind of bitter that his mom is not helping the situation (but of course he still loves her). THEN the girl dies... and the guy is truly happy to be out of the relationship, but hides it from everyone else... he pretends to be sad and mourning, but hes actually relieved. ok maybe my analysis is waaaay out there, but thats just how i saw the song haha |
