this song can symbolise the end of a relationship, or 2 people who have broken up but are attempting to stay friends but its not working out. i cant write anything more. this song brings up to many demons: And you say that i hurt you, in a voice like a prayer. Yeah you say that i hurt youu, and your voice is like a prayer. Yeah well maybe I hurt you sometimes, lets contrast and compare. Lift up your shirt, the wound isn't there. sometimes you have to give up your future if you can let go the past. she said to him that he hurt her... he knows he has but says she can't keep using it against him anymore. things have moved past. he knows that its the end of any truth or trust between them (you're kind of truth...) and so drowns his sorrows in alcohol... knowing that he'll have forgotten his pain until the next day. and he'll have to start all over again. love sucks. |

yeah this song is incredibly bitter. its after the realisation that the person has been using him (so i'm just a...) he says she wasnt anything real..(just a song i wrote) and he says that he wants her to carry on getting her satisfaction but not with him..which seems to have upset her (you think i'm a ...) he doesnt really care about her. he's got no self respect and so turns to the comfort of the food. in a way by 'eating for her' is his way of making sure that she's ok. his connection with her. but what would i know. some people just like eating? haha no i love this song but...yeah... |

this song to me really symbolises growing up and accepting who you are...and dealing with the rejection you can receive in life for whatever reason. the references to 'childhood' and how theygrew up together and used to talk about all things. (I fell asleep with you still talking to me/you said you weren't afraid to die) however this was all to change. this person couldn't accept who he was (were you made ashamed whyd you lock them in the drawer) and even though this person turned to drugs and worse to deal with his inner-demons, he still cares about him like they're were still children even though things are much more serious now they have grown up. i believe the reference to [my clothes are soaking wet from your brothers tears] is himself. because they were like brothers, spending all their time together as children. and he was upset that he couldn't help his 'brother'. lovely deep lyrics. well written and can be interpreted in so many ways! xx |

he’s in love with her. And he doesn’t need to be with her because they’re in love and knows that nothing will change it. He knows that no matter what happens, if they argue, or have time apart, they will always come back together. Sometimes he’s doubted their love because he’s unsure whether there is someone better for him because they’ve been together since childhood. She gives him the option of meeting other people but she’s wise enough to know that he’ll come back to her. he doesn’t believe that they won’t be together because then his life will have no point. whole song is pure genius. i wish things were that simple. |

its obvious that in this part of the song that he's realised she's using him. the initial infatuation has dropped and now he cares about how he's being treated and decided "This has got to die/This has got to stop". its like the golden senario: you love someone and they don't love you back but instead use their power over you for their own gain (mainly because they know you'll have sex with them the moment they click their fingers.) can you hear the bitterness as you read this? beautiful song... deep felt! woo! yup its cool. |

this song always moved me... however when i played to my mother, she thought that the song was about how he had killed her ("Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?" and then "I took what's mine by eternal right Took your soul out into the night.") i don't agree with her interpretation because it contradicts the song later on when he talks about being with her (And I still hold your hand in mine. In mine when I'm asleep.) i believe this song is really his exploration of the end of a relationship. maybe they have not yet broken up but he can tell that she doesn't love him. she has changed him, which people can do. this part affected me the most: It may be over but it won't stop there, I am here for you if you'd only care. You touched my heart you touched my soul. You changed my life and all my goals. And love is blind and that I knew when, My heart was blinded by you. I've kissed your lips and held your head. Shared your dreams and shared your bed. I know you well, I know your smell. I've been addicted to you. this really i feel connected with. he seems glad to have been changed by this girl. And they’ve shared so much intimacy but he’s realising that its better to calm himself down and just be there for her when she needs him because he has nothing else to lose. That’s about all I can analyse for now. |
