Wow, lot's of different ideas. I'm pretty neutral as far as a musical style, such as nu-metal or emo or pop or something like that. If I enjoy the song, I listen to it. Many people I know (not saying anything against you guys, since I don't know you) will absolutely NOT listen to something if it doesn't fall into their "category" of music. I think that that thought takes away from the joy and wonder of music. If you take in a strong blend, you can feel so many more emotions, and get different perspectives from many different people on many different things. But enough of that.
Helena is a great song. I had heard of MCR before this song, but I didn't know too much about them. This song got me hooked, I love their CDs, I love them, they totally rock. Personally I think you can get a clear view of what the song is about just by watching the video. Dead broad in a wedding dress in a church....? There's something you don't see every day. Not only that, she wakes up in the end. Maybe it's about a lost love that really screwed him over or something....like she wasn't being the same person. Then she left for awhile and he was pissed, but then she wakes up and sees how much she really messed up and all that. Happy ending, still a great song. I'm totally wrong, haha, but it kept me busy for the past 5 minutes.... |

personally, i tend to agree more with the loveyness side of it. true, it may be written for someone who died, but i think one of the great things about music is that it can be interpreted in so many different ways by so many different people. many of you have given examples of how the song has applied in your life, and i have one as well. but the point im trying to make is songs can be written for so many different reasons, and mean a million more. but anyways, enough philosophical crap or whatever you wanna call it. all in all, excellent song, one of my favorites. good stuff. |
