you are pretty much right except the girl who wrote kurt smells like teen spirit on his wall was his girlfriend at the time Tobi Vail. i maybe wrong but that is what i have heard and i never knew anything about a date the night she wrote that. but who ever told you this pretty much had their facts straight. |

I think song is talking about the world. It urges everybody to look at what we have become and how things are today with technology and how we have become so obsessed with material possesions and time. Millennium could refer to perhaps a new beginning and revolution. Maybe this is a message that as a society we need to change and realize life is so precisous and we should stop obessing over stupid things. LIFE IS TOO SHORT! = ) |

I think this song is about gaining the cofidence to do what you want to do. I love the last part of the song when it is really quiet and gets louder and louder and finally breaks out its like the pressure is building and then it just explodes. I love it! long live the foo! |

Yeah I have journals and i read that too but remember kurt's songs touched on many different topics and i still think that this song primarily focused on his relationship with courtney. I think kurt's anti-hippie attitude could have been another aspect of the song as well. |

This is my favorite Nirvana song. I guitar is so ominous and quiet in the verse but i love the crazy chorus with the "Hey Wait". You can really hear the emotion those lines. Kurt himself said that the lyrics don't matter as much as the emotion behind the song and I think this song has heart and emotion! |
