the stones suck, this song is about a brothel in new orleans and some hookers, suposedly witten by Georgia Turner and Bert Martin however my favorite recording was by leadbelly, although dylan didn't write it he made the version you hear today by artists like the stones lead zeplin and of course the animals. |

none of you have a clue what you are talking about, bob dylan wrote this song first, he wrote it about a joker and a thief there is no hidden meaning, for the past 3 years he has been on interviews written a book and had a documentary made and his main point in all of it is there is no hidden meaning, it is blank poetry. and it is amazing just the way it is, hendrix is great and all but he destroyed his version with excessive guitar soloing, and everyone on a better note bob dylan hasn't made a cover song on studio recordings since like his first album and when he did he still made it his own. |
