I think he sees himself as both the sheep and the butcher... bear with me..
hes the sheep, as he is still learning what is what 'who'll share and who'll feed'
but he is also the butcher because he's killing for 'a king he believes in but has never seen' hes doing anything for her and a love he believes could exist, but he doesn't even know if she will care... but he wants her to love him and think of him as this great person a knight not just a common butcher like in love the person you love is always the best person you know and you can see them as so mch more than in reality they are.
so yeah, an unrequited love. hope fullysome of that made sense to anyone other than me :)
but to be honest i prefer to take it at face value as beautiful little story. |

its not about anything in particular.. which makes it even more brilliant.. like someone said earlier the getting high bit was just what they used to ask each other, and i read somewhere that the words champagne supernova came from when noel was sitting home drunk and/or stoned watching a show about making champagne and listening to 'some pixies cd the missus had on' (its actually called bossanova) and i think the fact none of it means anything makes it better. |

hilarious and brilliant song. who gives a shit is it has a gay theme, makes it even more brilliant. and i dont think alex kapranos is gay... 1- he has a girlfriend and 2- most of their songs are written like this, in a first person point of view about events theyve seen or have heard of from their friends.. |

it has to have some political connotation seems it mentions someone hanging themself "behind the door of number 10". seeing as this must be an american site.. number 10 refers to 10 Downing St in london which is their prime minister always lives. i dont know that much about britains social/political state but id say its about not agreeing with the way things are run and the war and and just discontent with all that and wanting to get out, like wee chloe said on two levels.. about politics but written like its about a relationship. |
