The middle verse that starts with "excuse me did you say..." is really good. Of course this song is about child sexual abuse. And basically the girl who went through this doesn't want to talk about what happened, because she doesn't want to re-live it. It follows saying "we'll take man's dirty deeds
and suck them out by cosmic means
into the sun hurl them
where they'll be happy burning" This is him imagining how great it would be if he could take all this pain and the memories from the girl and hurt them to the sun, so she wouldn't suffer. But of course life isn't TV so he can't. He wants to do whatever he hcan for her, love her. He feels refreshed when he watchers he sleep, because maybe she is at peace, away from the trouble. Its a beautiful song, on a terrible subject. I love 311's positive outlook on life. Obviously there isn't much positive coming out of child sexual abuse, but they do show the love we as humans need to show. |

311 makes a point to be optimistic in all of their lyrics. This song is no exception. This song seems to be about overcoming difficult situations like depresion and just living in the moment. It seems overcoming all of your troubles is in your head. Its a mental battle of wether to give up and suffer, or be strong and overcome. They are a quite talented group when it comes to lyrics, or thats my opinion. Good song, great band |

interesting the whole last section of the song you can see Reese starting to feel what ultimetly lead to the band breaking up. He doesn't care about being famous, what he wants is to share the gospel to everyone, his peace and hope. Im sure this feeling started early, and as the band became so popular and their message not completly realized they had to break up. |

I definetly think it is still a problem tho. So many christians would shun a gay person beyond belief. Its kinda sad. Tho I do think homosexuality is wrong, I do think that it does come naturally to some people, and if all we do is treat it as a desiese then gays will never be christians. |

Wow I still can't quite figure this whole song, but I think it is about a mentalitly that is in the church that Reese doesn't like. I don't know if he is speaking of a specific situation, but I think I can relate. My church just went through a huge split, for the third time. Each side claiming God wanted what they wanted. Obviously God didn't controdict himself, I think people's selfish ambishions dictate what they think God is saying. Nobody won in the church split. Like the civil war, it was a war between ourselves. Even know, we refuse to forgive. I am not perfect, I regret so much that I did during that time, but I think it is time for us to move on. So many churches are disunified, it is disgusting. Our enemy is each other, and though we don't know it, we are siding with satan. Change must happen. |

This song really means a lot to me. I think the talent in any prospective of this song, is great. Great musically, and a great message. The emotion that was heard in their final concert is amazing. Its funny to think of my faith when I was a young Christian, I really didn't find it hard at all to bealive. It was amazing. As you get older, weather it is because you grow smarter to the world, you start to question a lot of things. Sometimes this questioning is good, but also it leads to doubts in the truth. I love this song, and I love all the experiences I have had with it. It almost always brings a tear to my eye to hear. I love these guys. |
