| Pull Tiger Tail – Hurricanes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
On the day that we left The neighbourhood heart skipped a beat. Oh the trees folded up and they shook as we drove down the street I said to myself ‘We’re finally getting away, When we come back I know that they’ll all look the same’ Now let’s go to our city And we’ll change over night We won’t think about leaving Oh why would we, its too good a time A hurricane hit While we were missing Oh, can anybody tell me Where the damage is? On the day that we left the phones and the power were down Oh the wind doubled up and it slammed every door in the town You cried and you screamed played faith in the war When it was done The magic it left with the storm Oh we moved to our city And we changed all the night We won’t think about leaving Now why would we, its too good a time A hurricane hit While we were missing Oh can anybody tell me Where the damage is? Above the waistline, beneath my skin, you're not afraid to dig those fingernail in… We don’t need our childhood I’m so sure now I was there By the time the winds have erased us Oh I may aswell have lived here with you if anywhere A hurricane hit While we were missing Oh can anybody tell me Where the damage is Above the waistline, beneath my skin, Shes not afraid to dig those fingernails in… Just the bit in the second pre-chorus needs correcting, I know its not 'played faith in the war', doesnt sound right at all. The song itself is pretty self-explanatory, just about wanting to get away from somewhere you've been for a long time and starting anew. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics | 20 years ago |

this reminds me of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths. not the song, but how he uses death to confess his love for someone. sweet though |

| Alien Ant Farm – Glow Lyrics | 20 years ago |

maybe he cheated or something and his girlfriend didnt forgive him, so he's saying 'well i did say sorry, there wasnt much else i can say...but your loss, i've moved on, and i'm really happy. jealous much?' lol thats how i see it anyway, its cheeky, but i relate to it and its fun. |

| Murder by Death – I'm Afraid of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| that and the fact you seem to like Oasis. | |
| mewithoutYou – Gentlemen Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I like the explanation about temptation. He really cant stand to be around her for the lust gets to him so much. 'the stillness in my eyes' is like he's trying not to look. I think the second verse is about when he's alone and he's hating himself because he worries if he lets her go because of it she'll soon find someone else. Overall, it really sounds like he's blaming her, perhaps she is purposely trying to tempt him and taunt him, or wont understand how he feels. |

| mewithoutYou – January 1979 Lyrics | 20 years ago |

i always just figured this song is about looking at humanity and thinking 'fuck, look at these greedy pigs' so he surrenders himself to god and becomes as humble as he thinks he can be, so humble that he joins the 'insects' (this bit is probably just metaphorical). but after a while he realises that its just in human nature to try and be better than someone else. he's not pleased by that fact - 'wont someone make me afraid of what i have become'. then end is just saying well i am trying and will continue to try, i know my life is worth nothing to anyone except god. thats just how i see it. i'm not even religious, but sometimes the music religious people can make contains a power more potent than that of secular bands. i never thought i'd hear a christian as angry as this. |

| The Appleseed Cast – Marigold & Patchwork Lyrics | 20 years ago |
just cant get into two conversations, mare vitalis might be my favourite album as a whole but this is easily my favourite AC song ever. i have the perregrine leak and have preordered that though, and it sounds amazing. back to the song, i think its about nostalgia of losing something, maybe a girl, maybe a family member. maybe even something else to do with his childhood, the 'spokes round baseball cards' bit seems to be reminiscent of younger days. now he wants to go back, obviously. its lovely, a very emotional song and the best bit about it is although the basic meaning is there, you can apply it to all sorts. i love it lots lol |

| Nirvana – Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam Lyrics | 20 years ago |
haha you're all still arguing about that guy and his religion!? thats been going on for ages. so shut up now. he was just talking some stuff about what he believes. you're all having a go at him for trying to change you into something, but what are you trying to gain by it? dudes gonna believe in god either way, so just let him be. and i think we just about know the meaning of this song by now too. |

| The Go! Team – Ladyflash Lyrics | 20 years ago |

'that nasty kid is so nasty (say what?!) those nasty kids are fantastic" i'm pretty sure thats what she sings too, i saw them play this live and that looked like what she was singing. |

| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Is This Love? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
is it about troubled lovers? he keeps talking as if she's telling him to leave and stuff, that theyre better off seperate, but he's convinced they can keep going. thats why he asks if its love. the last few lines before the outro sound like he's saying 'we can go through all the motions but we'll end up together again'. |

| The Distillers – The Gallow Is God Lyrics | 20 years ago |

when brody divorced tim armstrong she was basically outcasted from the LA punk scene. this song is about the betrayal she felt during that time. according to wikipedia. |
| The Distillers – Dismantle Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| The Distillers – Coral Fang Lyrics | 20 years ago |

i always thought it was about pregnancy! but i thought the coral fang was a metaphor for a penis. haha. |
| The Appleseed Cast – Ice Heavy Branches Lyrics | 20 years ago |
totally relate to this. like when you have a girlfriend and things are getting pretty serious and even though you want to be with them and love them so much you want to just chill out and take a step back, start having fun again. 'we could both be naked now and innocent' just highlights how he wishes the carefree attitude they had when they first got together has gone. |
| Ocean Colour Scene – The Day We Caught The Train Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i agree that its about being part of mod culture, or just being young and carefree in general, which although rather obvious is still fantastic. i've had this on repeat for a while now. |
| The Appleseed Cast – A Dream For Us Lyrics | 20 years ago |
meh. cry or no cry, its a good song. everyone stop getting so personal all the time. music is to be interpreted in different ways, so however you react to a song is your reaction and nobody elses business. when i heard this song i welled up, but i dont really cry. and i welled up with joy at the ending part...because its pretty much totally perfect. |
| Further Seems Forever – Light Up Ahead Lyrics | 20 years ago |
my favourite FSF. i'm an atheist, and strongly resent nearly all forms of oranised religion, but this song is powerful enough to make me wish i knew there was something there looking after me. but i played it at a place i dj'd at recently and dedicated it to my best friend and soul mate, sarah. |
| Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics | 20 years ago |
fuck this, american rock bands with never have the raw agression and attitude that us brits have. its all bollocks anyway. this is about stupid british vaudeville indie bands trying to be something they arent. i cant even be arsed to argue. good song. thats where this ends. |
| The Thrills – Big Sur Lyrics | 20 years ago |
sounds like an older guy or a more sensible guy who has got a girlfriend. she wants to get away, to somewhere more lively and stuff (big sur) but he is basically saying that its all over-rated and he couldnt live up to their crazy youthful lifestyle. or maybe thats just me applying my break up from my last girl to every song i listen to. mwahaha! |
| The Thrills – Deckchairs And Cigarettes Lyrics | 20 years ago |
they sing about california all the time because when they got signed they just up and left ireland and went to california to live in a hut down by the beach and record this album. thats why a lot of the album has a very beachy feel to it. no idea what the song means though lol. |
