Like Michael05 says, I think the song is targeting today's generation. On a global scale, in a time of intense neo-imperialism, disgusting corporate scandals, state government corruption, and idiotic government agencies, there is NOT AS MUCH public action from today's generation. Sure, there's talk, but no action - "and nothing gets done, so right so clued-up" - we just accept life and attempt to get on with it - "we just get old" - while people lose retirement and have to work longer and other countries' economies toilet-out - "and all the while been torn asunder". Since the song sounds so sad and is not particularly uplifitng, it may be conveying something that there's no hope for. "Nicotine and bacteria" I'm not sure about- I think of cigarette butts when I hear this lyric...anyway... |
