the vocals are disturbingly reminiscent of johnny cash. like murder by death is playing some cruel joke on me. |

i think this song is about andrew wk finally accepting his own mortality. he is, indeed, ready to die.
it's touching. |

"okay guys, i've heard some of our fans are denying that we sold out, so let's try to make it nice and clear on this next album, okay?"

| The Decemberists – Eli, the Barrow Boy Lyrics

the thing i really love about this song is that the music, and the lyrics, and the theme of lost love and death and (in my opinion) suicide, are all very common in traditional gothic ballads. which is what this song is. it sounds like it's just a cover of some song that was sung hundreds of years ago. |

| The Dresden Dolls – Sing Lyrics

This song is absolutely abysmal and wholly fails to follow in the vein of the Dresden Dolls. In fact, it reads like a half-hearted guidance councilor poster.
Fun stuff! |

i completely agree with BitterHandsResign. this song helped me through a difficult time in my own life, when i was struggling with my own weight problem. amy lee obviously understands how difficult it is, and i really respect her for writing a song about it. |

| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – O'Malley's Bar Lyrics

i can see this being spoken by the man while on trial, and the jury just being like, "what a crazy motherfucker."
"And with an ashtray as big as a fucking really big brick I split his head in half."
this line makes me laugh so much. |

| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – The Mercy Seat Lyrics

i actually always thought that the "but i'm afraid i told a lie" meant that he actally was afraid to die, since that line replaced "but i'm not afraid to die" in the final chorus.
regardless, johnny cashe's version of this is so ridiculously amazing, my mind boggles. |

| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Song of Joy Lyrics
| 20 years ago

i know that the narrator is the killer, but the other day a question was brought up that i'd never thought about:
was his insanity the cause of joy's depression, or was her depression the cause of his insanity? if the latter...what was wrong with her? and even with the children? |
