| I was told that this song is about Synanon. Synanon was the first therapuetic community (lamemans terms... a drug rehab) in California. Once you checked yourself in, you were there for life. (Hence the, "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave") | |

| I don't think the son is blind... I think she's just using "braille" as a metaphor for how her stretch marks feel. | |

I love how when she sings, "My broken heart still skips a beat" She skips a beat in the song. And I think that, "And drive the Cherokee straight off this trail of tears" is the most clever lyric I've ever heard. |

Some of these lyrics are wrong. The part that goes, "And your mother’s still calling you insane And I swear that it’s different this time " It's really: "And your mother's still calling you, insane and high swearing it's different this time" Which is why she tells her to give in to the demons that possess her - the demons being the addiction. She's fed up with her mother so she says that. Anyway... so I work at a really boring job, and I can listen to music on headphones while I work. The first time I heard thiss ong was on a day when I totally didn't want to be there and I was having a bad day and it totally turned it around :) Now I listen to this song a million times a day at work, and also whenever I am feeling down. |
